Update: Don Meisenbach, 88, has been found and is safe, family friend Bud Garrison tweeted Sunday morning.
Garrison told KATU Meisenbach was found in Sutherlin just north of Roseburg at around 6 a.m. Sunday. He was driving and was asking for directions to get back home.
The family is headed to Sutherlin to pick him up.
SALMON CREEK, Wash. – Clark County sheriff’s deputies are searching for an 88-year-old Vancouver man last seen in Salmon Creek on Friday afternoon.
Don Allen Meisenbach was last seen in his white 2010 Scion XB in the area of Northeast 7th Avenue and and 132nd Street around 2:30 p.m., according to Bud Garrison, a family spokesman.
"He is just an amazing man who cared very deeply for his daughter and family," Garrison said.
Meisenbach is hard of hearing and does not have his hearing aides with him, the spokesman said. He walks with two canes. He was last seen wearing khaki pants, black shoes and a T-shirt.
Meisenbach is a Korean War veteran and a former firefighter, the spokesman said.
"I hope we can repay the service he has given and get everybody we can out looking for him," Garrison said.
His car has Washington license plate DV00778 and a U.S. Marine Corps sticker in its rear window.
He does not have his cellphone with him.
