GRESHAM, Ore. – Shoppers were asked to evacuate a Fred Meyer store in Gresham on Saturday afternoon after reports of a man with a gun in the store, although police later determined there was no threat.

Officers on the scene said they received reports of a man entering the store with a gun, but when they found the man matching the description it turned out he was not armed.

Shopper Sandy Glantz said she saw members of a police SWAT team entering the store as managers asked patrols to calmly but quickly leave the building.

“Everyone was pretty calm about it,” Glantz told KATU.

The store is located near the intersection of Powell and Burnside Street in Gresham.

Nobody was hurt during the incident.
