Shovel arm on log loader swings into oncoming traffic

POWERS, Ore. - The shovel arm on a log loader being hauled by a semi came loose in a curve Tuesday morning and rotated into the path of traffic, crashing through the windshield of an oncoming van.
No one was seriously injured.
The crash happened just after 9:36 a.m. on Powers Highway, according to the Coos County Sheriff's Office.
James L. Waterman, 55, of Myrtle Point was northbound driving a tractor trailer hauling a Thunderbird 1238 Log Loader.
As the tractor-trailer entered a sweeping left turn, the log loader cab and shovel arm broke free and rotated into the path of an oncoming van.
The impact pushed the steering column into the driver's seat area, trapping Michael Delyria, 63, of Myrtle Point, inside his 1987 Ford Econoline Van.
Powers Fire Personnel pulled Delyria from the wreckage and treated him for minor injuries. He was released at the scene.
The guy in the Van clearly has things left to accomplish in his life and had a guardian angel, spirit or other watching out for him. Holy crap!
Time for a new FORD acronym - Fill Once, Replace Diaper.
That was such a close call! Glad the driver of the van walked away with relatively minor injury. I'm always scared to death when I'm near a semi-truck on the road, I try to get around and away as quick as I can.
They should change the headline to: "Man poops his pants."
Holy SH*%!!! "No one was seriously injured." That is one lucky person in the truck. Go by a lottery ticket!
 @dkgiovenco So very true. I was shocked seeing the damage that there were no serious injuries. Looks like the driver of the van was likely within inches of death.
Good move Arnold!
Â
shut down the logging industry and continue to starve out the towns and people that depend on the income. Â
 @Saywhat? Talk about being off-topic.
Yikes! Â I would have lost my load if I were driving that van!
WOW! Â Must have scared the bee jeezus out of him. Â So glad he is okay.
"Powers Fire Personnel pulled Delyria from the wreckage and treated him for minor injuries. He was released at the scene."
Â
Are you kidding me!!! Look at that cab!!! And he had only minor injuries. This guy has to be Superman. Glad he is okay. Never would have guessed that by looking at that cab.
ban logging on public lands. the line about loggers being stewards of the forest is crap. every clearcut i've ever walked through, has been a disaster area, pools of oily water, trash, discarded hydraulic oil containers, lunch/food trash. loggers are pigs, and need to be restricted to private timberlands, with strict EPA regulations to protect downstream areas. everything about the industry is archaic, regressive, and profit-driven.
" Arnold " you are an ....IDIOT.......
 @arnold talk about off-topic. A news story where someone narrowly escaped death in an accident isn't the place to toss around political agenda on the logging industry.
A log loader operator walked into a bar.....
So, how many tickets did the driver get? I can imagine at least two from what is written in the story.
"No one was seriously injured."Â WOW. Get that man a lottery ticket, stat!
@medborgare no kidding!! Wow!
Absolutely astounding that Mr. Delyria is alive, let alone only minor injuries! Wow
For as little as there is in this story, this is as complete of a local story as i have ever seen on this site.
 @Repoman Yea, often times all they really have to go with are police reports and photos taken by law enforcement. Having spent years reading police reports, they are notoriously thin on details, which make for very short stories.
