Snow falling in parts of Clark County, Beaverton area

We may not have gotten a white Christmas, but areas of the Vancouver-Portland metro area enjoyed a New Year’s Eve dusting late Monday morning.
Snow began falling in northern parts of Vancouver, including Felida, Salmon Creek and Orchards areas, at about 11 a.m. The flakes also were reported to be falling in areas west of Portland, including parts of Beaverton, St. Helens and Scappoose.
However, forecasters say the snow may be short-lived. The National Weather Service issued a short-term forecast, saying the accumulations will be light – just a dusting in most areas.
A few spots, including Banks and Kelso, may see more than a dusting, but it will be less than 1 inch, forecasters predict.
Steve Pierce, the president of Oregon Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, said the epicenter of the snowfall appears to be the Felida and Salmon Creek areas, and that snowfall should persist until nightfall.
An additional 1 inch is possible afternoon for parts of Vancouver, according to the National Weather Service.
2 inches in Castle Rock. Stopped at about 4PM I think, never got above freezing today.
We have about 2 inches at my place in Salmon Creek just a few roads North of Hazel Dell. :D
Good grief, the sky is falling! Nor those macho guys wearing flip-flops, shorts and hoodies may have to put their hoods up on the beer run! Â
Snow has stopped, beautiful sun set.
Â
Light granular snow falling in Oak Grove, but it's melting when it hits.
We've got very light snow in Beaverton (higher elevations) and I sure wish it would stick! That would be awesome for welcoming the New Year!
Snowing in Hood River....but we have had snow on and off for several days nowÂ
O inches of snow downtown...
@portlandborn83 It does not snow downtown very often. I do remember years ago, maybe 1994 or 95, walking through the square with snow up to my knees. It doesn't snow like that anymore.Â
@momo  @portlandborn83 Yeah I work downtown too today. Not a bit. Little flurries after 4pm today. Downtown Portland is lower elevation then areas North in Vancouver and surronding areas.
Snowing but not sticking in Orchards.....
Starting to melt off just a little in Gresham.
Â
Peppermint hot chocolate and watching my daughter play in the snow on New Year's Eve. I am a wealthy man. Have a safe an happy New Year, everybody!
@Playanekes AAaawwww....that's so nice to hear :) I live in Gresham also, no longer have little ones, but loved it none the less. You ARE a wealthy man :) And a loving dad too, it appears. Happy New Year to you and your family :)
@fracas I live on the other side of the river and it was brutal dodging the semi-retarded that had no idea how to drive in the snow & ice other than to just stop in the middle of the road to make a turn with no signal. Nice day for a White Wedding...
Almost an inch at my house (SE Gresham) and still falling lightly. Really pretty.
