Spat leads to crash into gas line

COLUMBIA CITY, Ore. (AP) — A Rainier couple were arguing as they drove down Highway 30 near Columbia City when the woman passenger allegedly grabbed the steering wheel causing the man who was driving to lose control and crash into a natural gas line.

No one was injured in the crash Thursday evening, but a natural gas leak closed the highway for three hours and cut off service to nearby residents until Northwest Natural Gas could make repairs.

Police say the man, 40-year-old Sebastian Dudek, was cited for reckless driving. His wife, 29-year-old Ashley Dudek, was arrested in St. Helens on suspicion of reckless endangering another person.
