Suicidal man undergoing evaluation after being found with shotgun, ammo

PORTLAND, Ore. – A man is undergoing a mental-health evaluation after police found him about to get into a taxi carrying a duffel bag that contained a shotgun and ammunition.

Portland police had been tipped off the 48-year-old man was feeling suicidal and was going to Forest Park to commit suicide. When they arrived at the 4900 block of SW Beaaverton-Hillsdale Highway, they found him carrying the large black bag and took him into custody.

Police took the gun for safe keeping and brought the man to the hospital.
