Couple accused of sexually abusing girl and recording it
SALEM, Ore. -- Federal agents arrested two Salem parents who agents said took pictures and recorded videos of sexual acts with a young girl.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Michelle Lee Freeman and her husband Michael Freeman in Salem on Tuesday after they called local police to turn themselves in, according to court documents.
The Freemans appeared in court on Wednesday.
The child exploitation-fighting unit of ICE's Homeland Security Investigations worked the case and said Michelle Freeman produced child pornography videos featuring herself and her husband engaging in sexual contact a young girl.
Last month, federal officials issued a nationwide alert, and received a tip that a woman resembling Freeman may have recently worked in the Seattle-Tacoma area. At the time federal agents did not know her real name.
After that plea made the rounds on Facebook, somebody called investigators saying they knew where the woman was.
"We use the same technology that they use to trade the child pornography to help the public help us identify them," said Special Agent in Charge Brad Bench.
In court documents, a Special Agent Mark Inman wrote that investigators received several tips that the woman they were looking for was indeed Michelle Freeman. On Tuesday, officers from the Salem Police Department called and said they talked to Freeman, who said she was willing to turn herself in.
Federal agents showed up at the Freemans' house and arrested the husband and wife.
"This is a tragic example of children being manipulated and victimized," said Salem Police Chief Jerry Moore.
According to Inman, Michael Freeman admitted that he and his wife took sexual photos and videos of the 9-year-old girl while a 6-year-old girl was present.
Freeman said he was in a "bad place" when he did it, Inman wrote in court documents.
In the photos, the older girl performed a sexual act on Michael Freeman and the parents had sex with the girl present, Inman said.
The couple then started making videos of the sexual abuse, agents said.
"I started it. Somehow she (Michelle Freeman) got involved," Michael Freeman told agents, according to court documents.
Bench said the case was especially disturbing. In the images, he said Michael always hid his face, although Michelle did not.
"Any time there is sexual exploitation of a child, as a caring human, as a parent, I don't think you can be unaffected by it," he said. "It's always disturbing."
Court documents show the videos were filmed inside the master bedroom at the couple's home.
Michelle Freeman refused to speak with investigators about the allegations.
Both were arrested and face federal charges for the sexual exploitation of a child.
"Cases like this strike at the heart of all of us," said U.S. Attorney S. Amanda Marshall. "These arrests mark the culmination of a coast-to-coast, multi-agency investigation into allegations of horrendous acts of child sexual abuse and exploitation."
Agents have not said if they believe there are any other victims.
You know, I support lower taxes for the upper class at the expense of the lower and middle classes, all manner of international conflicts which serve my business interests, and the continued War on Drugs, even if it's been proven a failure, it still keeps the poor in their place. I friend of mine a few days ago from Canada, sent this photo of a woman's face  saying "Jane Doe" with no name!  "wanted for child porn"... I knew Instantly it was "Michelle Freeman" the Family attended the same church we were going to in Salem,,, her husband was the church book keeper and on Salary...he quit when the church was sold.He and his family came often to the other church we moved to and visited,( Its been a few years since we seen them.) After i saw the photo I thought it was a hoax...so I sent email on face book to Mr. freeman and asked him "why is Michelle wanted for child porn?" He was all upset and asked me to send the post to him ,,,I told him to" go on my wall to look! He then asked me not to post it. To Late... Then no response... Thats when i called the FBI to report to them where they lived and Identified her photo... I even knew that was his voice in the sick porn video the Ice/FBI posted  to the public ,,,I told them that was Mr. Freemans voice talking to the little girl... I was afraid that they would run or kill themselves. They had children with them. Then another church member sent a text to me telling me that both Michelle and Michael were arrested at there home. It was all over the KATU Portland, Oregon news. another friend saw my post and called the FBI after I shared on face book. She also knew the Freeman's. When you try to hide in Darkness... God will show up and expose you..

.I was a victim at age 7 rescued  and taken to the hospital ,,,the same person later attacked another little Girl and he went to prison, If they had did something after he hurt me this would of not happened to the other Girl...I guess thats why I got involved!  I felt  my past pain and needed to do something. so I called the FBI...  within that hour the police captured them. God is in control Aho!

 @Rhonda Lee Kiersey If GOD is in control, why did it happen in the first place? These people are on drugs and I'm not talking marijuana! They ruined childrens lives and tried to hide behind a veil of deceit. A friend of mine lost both his parents and his 98 year old granny last year. They were brutally murdered in their home while sleeping by none other than meth heads-where was god when that happened? It may give you solace to say God is in control but do you really think he/she is "up there" listening to every persons prayers? USA must clamp down on crimes like this with SWIFT JUSTICE because these sick perverts will probably only do a couple of years in jail for what I would label as a most heinous and disgusting crime against humanity. Good on you for helping locate and arrest these sick fcks. Communication is the key.

This "man", and I use the term loosely, looks like he could do the acts, the woman looks like she isn't very bright, possibly abused by the husband. I am not excusing her.   And him remarking "he was in a bad place", what the "H" does that mean. There is nothing that would excuse these acts. Being in a bind might explain stealing something. Please not I did not say "excuse for". But abusing your children has nothing that can excuse that. It just plain always makes me sick, angry and feel murderous.

Talked with this woman"s husband on facebook yesterday about the wanted porn Jane doe posted of his wife...he was in shock and then turned themselves in. I guess it was not a hoax...I really thought someone was playing a Joke. Now the truth is out. Praying for those children because it has been a few years since I had seen them.

Talked with the FBI after the husband told me it was his wife's photo. I was surprised that he turned themselves in.Prayed that the truth would come out and the children were safe.

For all the people on this thread yelling that these two psychopaths should be killed, I have some news for you: I have worked with groups of incest survivors and I want to carry a message from the survivors to all of you: it is very rare that any of them want their family members who were guilty, killed. Rather, the preference is they are incarcerated for a long time-to life and the survivors are then when they become of adult age confront them, rail at them for the damage done, sue them, dialogue with them, ignore them, maybe get an apology from them (or not...but certainly demand one)... but be in the power position (at last) to do whatever they want with ....and I can tell you that all of the above has happened in various cases and will be able to happen if the offenders are alive. The adults who were child incest survivors have more often better outcomes of healing by being able to rage at/confront/shut-out/dialogue/etc. with a live family member offender than a dead one, and also: even though apologies don't fix what happened, the opportunity to demand an apology and also the chance of getting an apology is better than the guarantee of never getting to demand one or get one one...and one can't demand or get an apology from a dead person.

Your suggestions are good but unless we can come up with a solution that ends even the thought of this kind of crime, I have a bad feeling it will continue. I, also, am a survivor of incest. We need to scare the hell out of people who think they can get away with child pornography because being nice, civil and following the legal rules...ain't cutting it!
 @whirledworld For me, if I were the victim here, an apology from some creature who methodically orchestrated abuse like this is worthless. Having their head mounted on my bathroom wall...that could bring some satisfaction.
But let's get real: even before Kitzhaber neutered Oregon's Death Penalty, it didn't work. So, a death sentence is pointless. Letting them die from TB, prison violence, or best yet, old age is the only likely way we (Oregonians) will ever exact any justice on them.

 @whirledworld I think another common sense argument against killing these people is that the deterrent of the death penalty may be too much. That is, if an offender knows he or she will be killed if the victim identifies them, they will just kill the victim. In the long run, it increases the offender's odds of survival. The punishment cannot get any worse because they face death already, but their odds of getting caught at all decrease with no victim around. Meting out the death penalty for anything other than murder (or other crimes as heinous) creates a moral hazard of sorts in that it creates an incentive to kill.Â

Fear of family destruction is the #1 thing that keeps the victims from speaking out already. It would intensely worsen the effect of the abuse to kill the perp family members: the victims/survivors would carry with mixed guilt/grief/anger those deaths around in their minds forever. Many MANY ...even MOST survivors... would never tell anyone about the abuse and so never get any help.  Just because you don't want to pay to incarcerate criminals does not mean you get to opt out of doing so, unless you live on a deserted island. I suppose you want to only have pay-as-you-go fire and police protection, and membership-only libraries/schools, too, to save money for "your loved ones"? How much do you think the therapy and disability (SSI/SSDI) and related health issues is going to cost for the survivors of incest?? It will be a LOT more if you exacerbate their trauma by executing their family members...and it is already $$ enough. Plus, you will nearly guarantee that you will be really wreaking incredibly painful permanent destruction on these already terribly fragile survivors. It is selfish to not think of them and their needs to heal and have a decent life as best that they can, when you are whining about taxes.

 @MadMax64 In the criminal complaint from law enforcement it states that the children are their daughters.  It's not linked to on  this news article, but it's on other ones.

 @Repoman You feeling the ill effects, as do I, is a normal reaction to a sickening thing. If EVERYONE felt the ill effects, no one would be able to keep getting away with this torture from hell. Unfortunately, and quite hellishly, there are a large number of people who have gone off the rails into this sick brutality, and instead pursue and glorify this ugliness ..... the internet even "normalizes" it , as these people are able to connect with others, get constant reinforcement to their outrageously pathological thought/behaviors and socialize around this awful stuff...so they feel emboldened by the "strength in numbers" thing.

There are few acts so henious as the sexual abuse of a child. Perhaps the only condition under which the act is more disgusting is when it occurs at the hands of, (or with the concent of) that childs parent.

Two more children who definately will end up in the Foster Care system, rightfully so. They will also likely require counciling for the rest of their natural lives. Drug/Alcohol abuse, disfunctional love/relationships and suicide are concerns for both of the kids now. All thanks to 'mom' and some parasite who desired to have an orgasm.

I'm not getting this....she turns herself in and hands over photos and the video...but refuses to talk to investigators? She might as well...she already admitted guilt. Or maybe she's waiting to get an attorney? Either way...this is so sick...horrendous. I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out why our children now are such prey for these nonhumans. How can someone do this?  Something is going wrong with brains these days.
