Teen driver slams SUV into Lake Oswego restaurant
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. - A teenage girl backed her SUV into a Lake Oswego restaurant on Tuesday.
The crash happened around 12:45 p.m. at Casa Del Pollo, located at 15910 Boones Ferry Road.
According to the Lake Oswego Fire Department, the driver backed into the restaurant at high speed. There were nine customers inside at the time and one of them ended up with a minor arm injury. No one else was hurt.
"Normally, several people are sitting at the front door during lunch hours," said Jorge Zuniga, the restaurant's owner. "I am so glad that was not the case today. Those people would have been badly hurt or even worse if they would have been sitting there."
A construction company was called to help shore up the building and secure it until repairs can be made.
The Lake Oswego Police Department is investigating. There is no word yet on whether any charges or citations have been filed against the driver.

If this would have been a 70 year old everyone would be screaming for license revocation and additional testing. But it's a kid so we can blame texting. The same remedies should apply to both.

Man if you don't like the food, there are other things to do besides crash your SUV into the place.
This will cause the mental deficient lots of problems. Â They won't be able to explain why this happens to young people as well as old or middle age. Â I see a jump in mental suicides coming.

Oh...lookie another car mysteriously crashed into another building....there must be some way to blame this on the building. Perhaps, there should have been a road there instead of a building because the driver expected it or maybe the building should have just gotten out of the way when it saw the car speeding toward it.  Just blame anything...reasonable or not....but just don't hold the driver accountable for this "accident". Â
The only accident here is that the driver had received a license before being mentally able to accept the responsibility. Clearly, she wasn't paying attention when she put the car in reverse and mashed the accelerator in a panic when the car moved "unexpectedly." Send her back to driving school, prohibit any electronic devices in her car, and require a responsible driver accompany her for the next four years.

@Phx2Pdx The driver definitely gets FULL CREDIT for driving into this building. And this "shack" is more than 4ft from the road. More like 30-40ft. There are numerous buildings nearby that are right up against the sidewalk. This inattentive teenager simply needs more practice before he/she is given full control of an SUV. Â

Yikes! I'm glad no one was killed; I hope the child with the arm injury recovers quickly. I feel for the parents of the teen; I hope they have good insurance. I also feel for the owners of the restaurant. Regardless of insurance, they'll lose the most in this experience simply by having their doors closed.
