KEIZER, Ore. – Two teens escaped a house fire in Keizer on Sunday.

Firefighters responded to a fully involved fire Sunday morning. The two teens inside the house were unaware of the fire in the basement because the home did not have a working smoke detector, according to the Keizer Fire District.

No one was hurt.

Crews called for more resources with a second alarm after they arrived. Firefighters said they needed to fight the fire from the outside of the three-story home because the fire weakened the first floor of the building.

The fire district said 15 people lived in the home, but only two were there when the fire started.

Firefighters extinguished the fire after 2 ½ hour at the scene.

Crews said the snowy conditions made fighting the fire difficult.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is not considered suspicious, the fire district said.
