SALEM, Ore. -- Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire late Monday night at a strip mall in Salem.
The blaze, reported at about 11 p.m. at the Academy Square Strip Mall, 1048 Lancaster Drive, damaged several businesses.
Firefighters arrived to see flames coming from the roof of the building. They battled active flames from outside the mall, and several firefighters went into adjacent buildings to ensure the fire didn't spread, fire officials said.
No one was hurt.
Investigators said they haven't yet determined what started the fire.
As of 1 a.m. Tuesday, the fire had been brought under control, fire officials said.
I didn't know it burned down. Went to Salem today gonna buy a classic game from Game Crazy. I was very upset to see it had been burned down.
How about a list of business damaged? You know, basic news reporting stuff? Reports like this are incredibly annoying.
I went to the school directly behind there. Â Lots of memories of that particular "block". Â Sad to see peoples hard-earned work go up in smoke. Here's to hoping they get on their feet soon...Â
 @dblshot Does the school still generate revenue from the mall, or did they sell it? I know they made some cash off selling the property adjacent to the school that eventually became Toys R Us outright... Didn't they used to be the landlords for Academy Square?
Â
I know one of the owners of a business in the development, thankfully his place is on the other end. Â
 @MarkKpic I don't know whether Salem Academy sold it.  In fact, being that I only went to High School there, I didn't know that they even owned it (or did). I went to school there in the early '90's.God, I'm feeling older...
@dblshot  Awh yes sweet memories of a strip mall.  good lord...lol thank god im a country girl.
Sure looks like it was destroyed, not damaged!
Salem has a mall full of strip joints?
 @RalphCramden C'mon Ralph, get with the vernacular. They're 'gentlemens' clubs now. Or, 'cabarets'.
Â
'strip clubs' are far to demeaning to women to be tolerated in Oregon.Â
 @RalphCramden LOL Ralph!
