PORTLAND, Ore. – Police on Monday said the 15-year-old boy and 22-year-old man who were both shot at a TriMet transit station Friday night knew each other.

Police are looking for suspects, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson. Detectives believe there may be people who witnessed the shooting and have not come forward.

Abukar Madey, 15, died Sunday morning at a hospital of a gunshot wound to the head. The second victim, Lucio Alejandro Ramirez-Navarro, a.k.a. Alex Ramirez, 22, is recovering in a hospital.

Detectives said they have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting was gang-related. Simpson said Ramirez is a “documented member of a Hispanic street gang in Portland.”

The shooting happened just before midnight Friday at the transit station at Southeast 93rd and Holgate. When police arrived, they found Ramirez (right) suffering from several gunshot wounds.

While checking the area, officers found Madey on stairs leading to the MAX platform. He had been shot in the head.

Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to call Detective Mark Slater at (503) 823-9319 or Detective Erik Kammerer at (503) 823-0762.
