Two Klamath Falls women die in icy highway crash

WHITE CITY, Ore. (AP) — A two-vehicle collision on an icy Southern Oregon highway east of White City left two Klamath Falls women dead.
The crash late Friday night also injured two passengers in the women's vehicle and a father and son in another vehicle.
Larisa M. Bailey, a 25-year-old from Klamath Falls, died at the scene. Her driver, 34-year old Kristi Duncan, died at a local hospital. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Jacob Layer and his 8-year-old son, Joel, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
When the seat belt law was passed I was kind of pissed about it and thought it was just one more freedom we had lost. I always buckled up anyways and now I don't feel comfortable at all if I am not buckled in. It just makes too much sense. I still don't think it should have to be a law but I do know it is the right thing to do.
THis is what happens when you dont wear a seatbelt, people have to start realizing this
Driving on icy roads and neither were wearing a seat belt? That's really too bad because this tragedy most likely could have been avoided. If you are a true friend, and you love/care about the people you are with, tell them to buckle up, even if it is annoying or inconvenient.
Icy gets mean drive slow. Â Seat belts save lives. Â The vehicle does not appear to have much damage. Â Maybe there is two holes in the wind shield. Â Seat belts intact from being sat on. Â Go figure.

Interesting. KATU says neither victim was wearing a seatbelt while KGW clearly states that both were wearing seatbelts. Which is it?
Not wearing your seat-belts. How did that plan work out?
I have a real question, if you leave work early because of hazardous conditions and just want to get home alive, can ones boss really fire them.. and if the boss winds up firing them and he is killed in an accident, is the person still fired?. It actually happened to a friend of mine once, He told his boss he had to leave as it started to snow heavy . His boss fired him that evening, he arrived at work to find his boss was killed on an icy road.
@lee986321 That is a sad situation but a very good question. Last year when we had that unexpected snow storm I tried to leave early but my supervisor basically laughed at me. I was pissed! I stayed til my normal quitting time but a normal 40 min drive for me took 2 hours and then I had to park at the bottom of my hill and walk up a very steep 1/2 mile hill to a spot where it's level and my husband was able to pick me up in 4 wheel drive to take me the rest of the way home. I don't know the grade of my hill but it's difficult to make it up in a 4 wheel drive vehicle with chains on all four when there is snow. We can tell when new people move in because their cars are usually in the ditch after the weather clears because they tried to make it up. As I was walking up the hill I called my boss to make sure she knew the HE** she made me go through. I normally don't go to work or I go in late when it snows because it's not worth my life. Plus, if I wreck, it's going to cost a lot more then that days pay to fix it! But again, very good question. Since most states are at will employers, employees probably have no rights.....it's either go to work & risk dying or lose your job. Nice huh?
Stay the hell home when it is icy or leave early, and if your boss fires ya for leaving work, then let him wreck on the ice.

So, the two victims did or didn't wear seatbelts? Was that matter? The matter was the victims were on their lane, the one that caused the accident didn't die. RIP ladies, and I feel sorry for everyone involved.
@tptpttp Maybe wearing their seat belts could have saved their lives, whether it was their fault or not!
kgw said they were wearing seatbelts, that was on my link.

This one says the women weren't wearing seatbelts.Â
Â
Not sure if that would have really saved them or not, as the Toyota and the Honda look really smashed up.Â
Â
So sad....
@tptpttp I saw that, but I was responding to you saying "why does it matter?"
