Two arrested for 'flash rob' at Macy's Lloyd Center

PORTLAND, Ore. – Two people were arrested Friday night after police said they were involved in "flash robbing" at the Lloyd Center mall Thursday night.
Police spotted the suspects' getaway vehicle, a silver SUV with Texas license plates, in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Northeast Portland shortly after 6 p.m. They pulled it over at Northeast 22nd Avenue and Morgan Street.
A police officer who responded to the thefts during the flash robbery at the Macy's in the Lloyd Center arrived at the traffic stop and identified the driver as a person seen on surveillance video.
Police arrested the driver, 18-year-old Rosaayla Campbell, and one of three passengers, 18-year-old Rasool Islam, accusing them both of first-degree organized retail theft and theft in the first degree.
The other two passengers were released without charge.
Police said the investigation is continuing and there could be more arrests made in the case.
Police said about $1,000 worth of jeans were stolen from the Macy's, and store security guards told police it was a group of five or six boys and girls that were involved.
Portland... African American's getting busted for stupid stuff like this? No way!!!!
He has the pippy longstockings hair :)
Buy your dang jeans like everybody else.... Lloyd Center looks terrible right now. Gangs, shootings now Theft Mobs.. what's next?  I don't even want to know. Im just gonna keep my family away from that place. Â
It isn't the mall. It's the neighborhood. And I'm pretty sure there haven't been any shootings at Lloyd Center...ever.
idiots, lets hope they didn't breed yet.
The law needs to address this new type of crime. Charging each one for their piece of the take as restitution. If more are caught their cost goes down. This would encourage snitching and make it easier to round up all of them. Some may even suffer at the hands of their rap partners, justice delivered by the guilty.
They will be held until trial. There will be a plea agreement and they will be released with credit for time served. They will do for many years to come and get better at it. This kind of crime is going to become a lot more common I'm afraid to say.
Why can't the police use the GPS in these criminals phone to determine where and when they've been? Use the same technology they use against them.
@happyptown ----too bad someone didn't closeline them as they were running out. Like oops, I was just stretching my arm as they ran by. My arm accidently caught Islam in the throat. Sorrry!
Well, I hope they had fun...now they have to pay the piper.
What ever happened to locking the doors& keeping them there while you call the police?Ever think of that?Duh! baseball bats work verry well also. The metal kind. I know lots of people will say this is racist but whenever killings, drug deals getting busted or rapes I bet with myself on what people did it, 90percent of the time I`m right.
Great job on the part of LE! I am glad they caught the criminals, now just make sure and hold them totally accountable for their actions. This would help enforce a lesson to other would be thieves (criminals), that they will be held accountable.
Their defense will be "It be our right holla!"
Their names would not be legal in Iceland, nor would their crimes. LOL
Sure is great that they were over 18! They just might be held to answer for the crime!
As long as our (in)justice system is just a revolving door these things will continue to happen. Of course Kitzhaber says we need to set all non-violent criminals free to save money; despite the fact that Oregon's incarceration costs are 50% above the national average. Well guess what John, we all pay the price for these thieves in increased costs and I would rather keep them locked up.Â
I saw a cleaver comment about this subject elsewhere and I think it bears repeating
now that part of the gang has been caught.
Sentence them to......"A life outside the jean pool."
Looks like they have had previous experience posing for mug shots.
@The ResistanceThose aren't mug shots. They are Portlandia passport photos.
@The Resistance Shut your mouth and look at the camera!
It is my hones opinion that the US could adopt one thing from a country, Allow the people to define the punishment.

@Caspertoo They hadn't fenced the jeans yet. Tattoo parlors require cash!
I'm waiting for Jesse and Al to come in and help these people.Â
So where's the Albina Ministerial Alliance? Back in the day they did something to build up their community:
http://www.blackpast.org/?q=aaw/albina-ministerial-alliance-ca-1964
Now it appears their sole purpose is to deflect blame for the black community's woes onto the police:

Somebody PLEASE tell me I'm wrong..
The only way to stop these young people is give them something other then crime to do.  Something similar to job corp would work, I am thinking about  living in tents and walking along our interstate highways to pick up trash.  This way they can see our great country foot by foot, two years minimum service should inspire them to become great citizens.
@oregonduffer Now if you could just connect them together with one long chain you might have the answer.
@Razor1  @oregonduffer That's been tried once. It backfired. Now we stuck with them.
@oregonduffer Unfortunately even picking up trash requires some amount of work ethic. These people have zero wok ethic or inclination to be productive. I love the idea however. As for them being able to see the great country they are in, they have been cooed and coddled for so long that they have forgotten what its like elsewhere in the world.Â
Blame Obama and the welfare state!
This fits you well !
Â
From the classic Dr. Seuss: Oh , the People who hate you !

They do not like you with monster trucks because, young man, they do not give a fu**s !
They do not like you when you pray, they did not like you anti-gay !
They do not like you cutting tax, they could not stand when you wore your "mommy" pants.
You cannot reach across the isle because everything you do is vile.
They complained when you killed...osama !!
So on a train, a plane or llama, rolling a 44 at bowl-o-rama,
Despite your nice white Kansas mama !...COMMA
They do not like you Barrack Obama

@sargerator Impeccable timing, guys. On Saturday, the White House released a 2012 photo of President Obama shooting a gun â and guess what? Next week, heâs due in Minnesota to speak about (what else?) gun control measures. Is that a mixed message, or an attempt to warm opposition up to the president's views? You tell us. The pic shows the prez shooting clay targets at the range on Camp David in Maryland. In a recent interview with The New Republic magazine, Obama said his family "[goes] skeet shooting all the time." (Not his daughters, of course.) He heads to Minnesota on Monday to talk guns.
@ritfam  @lee986321  @sargerator Obama was shooting a 5000 dollar gun. I'm surprised it wasn't gold plated as the man thinks him and his family are royalty.
@lee986321  @sargerator The "mixed message" comes from feeble minded people like yourself. This whole gun rights issue is not about people who shoot guns but the type of guns people shoot. You will always have a right to own and shoot a gun. The president is using a gun for sport to assault skeets not people!Â
 @lee986321  @sargeratorÂ
@sargerator oops.. Trigger happy paste..sorry lol
Â
@Freedom1267 Can you say......Parents raise your kids right!
@Freedom1267 yes because 5 years ago the US was completely crime free, right? Do you actually think before posting, or do you just post the most idiotic things for a reason?
This country has been tanking for a while now.
@Ramsesthegreat  @Freedom1267Â
@deckardisareplicant @Ramsesthegreat @Freedom1267 What have you been doing to make things better? Have you made the world a better place by your actions? If not, shut up!
Great work! Now make the charges STICK! And find the rest of the gang of thugs!
The Federal government  needs to start a boot camp for troubled teens!  Use closed down military bases!
Public caning!
@oodathunked I'm thinking we need to revise our prison system. Perhaps something like a Turkish prison. Ever see the move Midnight Express? If not, you should watch it and you'll see what I mean.
Â
If the Turkish prison is too extreme then maybe we need to do the same as Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona with the tent city, pink prison uniforms, chain gangs in 120 degree weather, baloney sandwiches, etc.
Â
It's time to stop pampering our prisoners. Perhaps that will make them think twice about committing crimes.
Good point "Scoreboard". Maybe we should out source our criminals
to some place where they know how to change behavior, like China.
I am sure it would be cheaper than the current system.
@scoreboard @oodathunked Sheriff Joe is good...Turkish Prison ala "Midnight Express" is bit harsh but then again sex offenders would be a bit more reluctant to offend if they knew that they weren't going to get cable TV and 3 hots and a cot.
@oodathunked they are defective products of society. We need to print that return label and send them back. They have no shame or respect for society. They act like animals, so maybe that how we should treat them like animals.
People here will be quick to blame Obama and the welfare state (among other things) for enabling these people's crimes. But I love President Obama. He's a black man with a job. He's walking evidence that there's nothing holding down the black community except their own "victim" attitudes and criminal thinking processes. To the black community: Get over yourselves. Yes, racism (and every other kind of "-ism") exists here and everywhere else in the world, but it doesn't have to keep YOU down. Use those entitlements to get job training and make something of yourself. Use the programs already available in the African-American community to keep your kids on track and doing something positive. Don't allow your brothers and sisters to perpetuate the myth that black people are all destined to be crack-smoking, wife-beating thugs, whores and thieves. Even for those who have already done the crime and the time, there is job training and felony-friendly employers out there who will give you a chance to redeem yourself. What are you going to do? Â
@StealthActivist  I like your ideas. I think black parents have an uphill battle trying to raise decent, law abiding kids in the 'hood. Unfortunately, many white folks won't reach out to these young people and encourage them. Hats off to those that can lift themselves up!
@StealthActivist Yea, like that's going to happen. Most of them are too damned lazy and think that just because they are black the world owes them. Good luck with that.Â
Â
It's their thug mentality and attitude that is going to keep them down.
to make a change you should want that change. These people have no interest in any development of themselves or their offspring regardless of how many resources we waste on them.Â
I said it after the robbery. These are teenagers that were likely to come from cra p homes with screwed up broken families. Either multiple fathers, missing or delinquent dads, multiple live in or drop by boyfriends for the "mother". This demonstrates the result of the destruction of the American family unit. Laugh now at the old style family structure Hollywood, because your elitists ideology proclaiming 'dads aren't important' and kids do just fine without the traditional family'  is a miserable failure.Â
Amen boyscout, You said it perfectly
@last boyscout Is two dads or two moms ok with you? I happen to know some gay couples including my doctor who are doing a stellar job raising their extremely intelligent, articulate, well adjusted kids,
@noneofyourbizzness At least there are still some individuals willing and in some cases desperate enough to risk verbal and sometimes physical assault in order to gain something that they consider incredibly important, and of value far beyond a monetary award. And that is "Marriage". So if two dads or moms hold that institution that fondly, and way too many other couples of opposite sex seem indifferent to "Marriage", then heII yes I approve.  Â
