Two horses found wandering around Hillsboro neighborhood

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Two horses that got loose from a farm in Hillsboro peacefully grazed on grass in a neighborhood cul-de-sac on Friday afternoon before police managed to coral them and get them back to the farm.
Julie Walden emailed KATU News to say she was driving in her neighborhood on Friday afternoon when she saw the two horses wandering across a major road.
She joined some other neighbors and they managed to coral the lost horses into a cul-de-sac, where they munched on flowers and grass.
Walden said the first police officer who arrived didn’t know what to do with the horses.
Lt. Mike Rouches with the Hillsboro Police Department said eventually four officers and the owner of the horses showed up and managed to get them back to the farm, which is located in the city near 231st and Deer Run Road.

Not a horse person. When someone posted "bay" I had to look that up and was amazed at all the names for the color schemes. So, is the light horse a light chestnut? Good wet day to learn something new.
Â
@Brownknight The light horse could be a palomino, too. Just not the golden kind that Roy Rogers had. Palomino is a dilution of chesnut, I think.
Â
final answer. I am going with champagne. This is a lot harder than I thought.
Dang, maybe palamino? The dark tail throws me but perhaps that is just a little dirty.Â

Free lawn mowing !
Nice to read something other than the horrors of this week.
Cute horses, glad they are not spooked, just moseying around the neighborhood.
@serenityNOW Probably a good thing it happened during the day and not at night, so people could see them.
Twice this article says "coral" the sea animal, when it means "corral," as in to pen up, as in a corral.Â
@alohan Typical spell check. It's not grammatically enabled.Â
Are the owners being checked out for animal abuse??  Perhaps they should be....if a child was out wandering around like that the parents would be in jail....& the child would be in protective custody.  They were probably looking for food...they were hungry!!!
@dianned Horses are always looking for food. They are grazing animals and spend most of their time eating, thinking about eating, waiting to eat, looking for something to eat, and did I mention eating? Horses will leave one pile of hay to check out and eat another pile of hay. They can finish breakfast and then go graze. A horse set loose near grain will eat until it has made itself sick. These two horses look about as healthy as horses can look.
@dianned horses, and other livestock have been getting loose forever. And then they keep doing what they do: graze. It's normal. Relax.
@whirledworld @dianned I love it when this happens. Any given morning I can look out my frontroom window and see deer just munching away on the lawn. So peaceful. I would not mind at all sharing with a couple horses out for a morning hiatus.Better than when I lived in Salem finding a damn drunk passed out on my lawn. Horses smell better and are friendly!
@dianned I think we all just got dianned! That was funny, don't know if you're serious or not. Those horses look anything but abused! They were just out for a little adventure.

@dianned its no different then if your dog gets loose... people like you are so ignorant and judgemental.. its amazing how you feel that you're sooo perfect.
@dianned Seriously? Do those animals look abused to you?
Them Hoves need a trimming before the founder
Â
@lee986321 Horses don't founder from untrimmed feet. Yes, the bay looks like it could use a trim and some moisturizer. The other horse's feet look pretty much okay. Maybe the bay is new to the barn and the farrier hasn't been out yet. But it's not like the bay has elf toes or anything.
@tart of darkness @lee986321 nothing a trim and a good filing can't handle. From the looks of their front shoulders I would say they get plenty of exersize. Couple good looking folks right there! I think the photographer got a pretty damn good shot for pic #4 with the shadows, mist and sun combined.
@iamtroglodite Thanks for the compliment about the photo! I was just using my iPhone camera...wish I would have had time to get my DSLR to get some even better shots! It was quite a fun experience...made me feel like I was back in AZ for a bit!...I just moved here 3 months ago from there, and never thought I'd see something like this here!
@lee986321 Does appear that they haven't had a 6-week trim.
