Two injured in Hwy 35 crash

NEAR MOUNT HOOD, Ore. – Two people were injured in a crash on Highway 35 near Mt. Hood Meadows Monday night.
Police said alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Cornelio Diaz Flores, 28, was driving a Honda Accord northbound on the highway when the car slid off the road into the Pocket Creek Sno Park, where it hit three parked cars, police said.
Flores and passenger Cesar Zarate-Mendoza, 17, were both unconscious. Two nurses who were nearby when they heard the crash ran to the scene and started providing emergency care.
They were not wearing seat belts, police said.
Zarate-Mendoza was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to OHSU in Portland with serious injuries.
Flores was taken by ambulance to a Hood River hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries.
Police said he was driving with a suspended license.
More American alcohol madness!!! We should ban alcohol, or at least impose a 12 fl. oz. limit per person, per day! That will fix everything!!!
Â
In all seriousness, don't drink and drive, kids.
 @RiddlerÂ
I love your sarcasm.
Yeah, and if I ever needed some care, the VA does everything it can to deny me, guess I should have been an illegal alien, that way I could get more services. Â
 @archon312 You can renounce your citizenship anytime you wish.
Driving drunk trumps driving suspended...too bad his passenger got the worse of it.
Just shaking my head at the idiocy that some people have.
How many strikes does he want?
(1)No seatbelts
(2) Suspended license
(3) Driving under the influence of alcohol
(4) No traction device or tires it appears. The honda is front wheel drive.
Possibly (probably) no insurance to cover medical, transport costs, or to repair the other damaged vehicles.
As Ralph Cramden mentioned..."More than likely illegal", which if that is the case, will mean lot of honest taxpayer dollars spent.
Get that copter in there. Get him to OHSU now. Great use of federal tax dollars.Â
More than likely illegals that have just cost the taxpayers thousands of dollars in medical costs.
Â
The Life Flight ride alone will be about $16,000.
Â
 @RalphCramden You're right I can't think of the last time I heard about a white person driving drunk....
Â
Inmates By Race
White:129,505(59.4Â %)Black:81,099(37.2Â %)Native American:3,973(1.8Â %)Asian:3,443(1.6Â %)

Â
So who is the biggest burden on taxpayers? If your going to stereotype and be a racist turd you might want to at least take a second to google some statistics
 @holymolEÂ
Nice misuse of statistics.Â
Â
If you look at total population by race and then look at those in prison you would see the real picture.
Â
Blacks make up only 13.1% of the population but have 37% of the total prison population (by your quoted stats). That means that 0.19% of the population in prison is black compared to 0.05% with whites. That means that blacks are almost 4 times more likely to be a criminal that a white person.

Â
Plus it shows you just how ignorant you are in that "Hispanic" is not a race. So how can I be a racist when race is not involved?
Â
Just another person using the word "racist" had has not idea what the word means.
 @holymolEÂ
My degrees are not in political correctness.
Â
Racist: a term people use when they are losing an argument.
Â
Godwin's law should include racist.
 @RalphCramden Just because you feel the word racist is worn out and means nothing doesn't make the definition any less relevant. Again you assume the are not here legally and therefor criminals with no fact other than their last name. Maybe you can seek a refund on your education it seems your time spent on such degrees didn't serve you very well.
 @holymolEÂ
Nice try.
Â
The correct word would be bigot for two reasons. One is that the word racist is worn out and means nothing any more. People like yourself use it for everything while folks like me just ignore it.
Â
The second reason is that bigot includes those that are not like "us" and are different.
Â
I am a bigot. I dislike criminals and more than likely these folks are not in the US legally and are therefore criminals.
Â
As for education, I will be finishing my 3rd degree (a masters) this spring. I am considering going for a PA-C in the future which will be another masters degree.
 @RalphCramden Whatever you have to say to make yourself  feel better.  I said nothing  about who was more likely to be, you can throw your spin on it all you want the fact is there are more whites then any other race in the prison system thus they are the bigger tax burden.
Â
You are right "Hispanic" is not a race, it is an ethnicity but lets get a few definitions.
Â
So Webster dictionary says
â Hispanic noun : of, relating to, or being a person of Latin American descent living in the United States; especially : one of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary)
Â
--- Ethnicity noun : the fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition:
Â
---- Racist noun : a belief that race or ethnicity is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary)
Â
So yes the fact that you judged that someone was here illegally because you assume that their last name may represents that they belong one particular ethnic group (see ethnicity is the primary determinant of human traits) then yes you are a racist turd...
Â
but then again your just another person basing their hate based off of skewed facts, and a little bit of hate. but hey "Hispanic isn't a race so how can you be racist when race isn't involved, right
Â
maybe you should educate yourself..
Â
 @RalphCramden I have breaking news for you Ralph.
It's entirely possible these people's ancestors have been in
the US longer than yours have. What in the story led you to
believe they're 'more than likely illegals'? Just their name?
Â
That same Life-Flight ride for you would cost either yourself or the Gov't
about $16K too. They don't give discounts because you may be white.
 @MipsferÂ
Ahhh, the people involved in this crash were also white.
Â
Or are you under the false impression that "Hispanic" is a race?
 @MipsferÂ
The odds are excellent that these are illegals.
 @Mipsfer  @RalphCramden And even if his ancestors were from Mexico, at least they were true Americans... and not thieving, murderous, European invaders.
True Americans? Not Thieving Invaders?
Interesting....
Looks like different cultures celebrate Christmas differently. Here's to celebrating the "Diversity" that so many are so fond of.Â
 @last boyscout Yeah, because people from other cultures/races don't drink and drive during X-mas....great point and very well thought out!  And yes, diversity should be celebrated....but the way you say it almost makes you sound like a homophobic racist.  I know you vote republican however, so that CAN'T be the case!
Â
That said, probably and illegal.......
 @B Smizzle You've got to leave it to a "Liberal" to be able to "read between the lines"  with so much imagination and spin,  that his own twisted ideology may seem reasonable by comparison.Â
And on Christmas day, one might imagine, Liberals, who claim sole ownership of the whole "open mind" mantra, would grant some leniency to we lowly conservatives.
Â
Merry Christmas B Smizzle. I look forward to many more "discussions"...:,<] Â
 @last boyscout Actually I am a life long republican and  true conservative....not what republicans call a conservative now days!
Â
I also look forward to our "discussions".....merry x-mas to you and your family!
Â
ICE hold, by chance?
The likelihood is more than 50% I would guess.
 @Just Lookin Which really means you have no freaking clue, facts or research to back up your biased borderline racist comments....
holymole,
If I were to wager say $5.00 that one of these two lawbreakers was illegal...I would have a pretty good chance of winning.
The driver broke so many laws to begin with. But the comment is not racist at all, just commons sense.
But you can spin or twist it all you wish...it is still the same. The driver at least broke a few laws.
@RalphCramden@Just Lookin

Â
Â
 @holymolE  @Just LookinÂ
holymolE,
Â
Race isn't even an issue in this article. They are Hispanics and Hispanic is not a race anymore than American is a race.
Â
Do you know what the word racist means? Or are you just ignorant?
