Two inmates walk away from minimum-security prison in Salem

SALEM, Ore. – Salem police are looking for two inmates who escaped from the Mill Creek Correctional Facility in Salem on Thursday night.

Police said Daryl Manuel Hernandez and Franco Armando Moreno were discovered to be missing at about 10 p.m.

Hernandez is a 34-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Moreno is a 25-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

The facility is a minimum-security prison that provides education and work opportunities to inmates.

Hernandez has been in custody since October on one count of delivering marijuana and one count of child neglect. He was eligible for release in two years. Moreno has been in custody since January 2012 on three counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle use. He was eligible for release next March.
