Two men injured in Salem drive-by shooting
SALEM, Ore. – Two men were shot in a drive-by shooting outside a party in Salem early Saturday morning.
It happened at around 12:30 a.m. outside a house in the 1000 block of Arabian Avenue SE.
A car drove by the house, where many people were gathered outside, and fired numerous shots, according to Don Thomson with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
David Chavez, Jr., 26, was shot while he was seated inside his Honda Civic. He was taken to a Salem hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies also found bullet holes in two nearby homes.
While detectives were at the hospital, a second gunshot victim arrived at the emergency room. Robert A. Apodaca, 26, drove himself to the hospital. His injuries are unclear.
Detectives believe at least one person returned fire at the suspects’ car during the shooting, Thomson said. It’s unclear how many shots were fired.
The suspect vehicle is described as a four-door, white or light-colored Malibu type car. It may have bullet holes in it.
Witnesses could not provide a description of the suspects inside the car.
Anyone who sees the suspect vehicle or has information about the shooting is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office 24-hour number at (503) 588-5032.

Well, the politicians here pretty much have their collective heads in the sand, not much different than everywhere else...  As for the rest of  we-the-people in Salem...yes, we know...and care...
Anyone want to bet the guns were illegally obtained and that the shooters were carrying the guns illegally?

In your own words, it  is "completely ludicrous" of you to infer that these punks with guns are in any way shape or form in the group of  "law abiding gun owners". Every shot fired was against the law, firing at a moving vehicle with homes in the background is reckless and possibly shooting a law abiding citizen in their home. As the car was driving away, there would have been no clear shots (it was at night and dark), and the threat to life was probably over by that time. Your post shows no knowledge of the firearm laws, or laws affecting concealed carry. I hope for the safety of those around you and the general public, you don't own a gun. This is not television or the wild wild west, this is real events, and you don't shoot a firearm out of someone's hand, or let Joe Friday shoot the bad guy in every episode.

Correct will just makes statements that have no basis in reality. In this case there is no evidence that the guns were in the hands of law abiding gun owners or even held legally. Yet he wants to somehow make it look like a legal gun owner was somehow involved in the attack.

It may be possible that the return fire was done by a legal gun owner but that remains to be seen. The odds are excellent that the initial shooter id not have a legal gun and was not allowed by law to carry a gun.
