Two patrol cars rammed after police investigate fireworks complaint

MILWAUKIE, Ore. – A fireworks complaint turned explosive Wednesday night in Milwaukie, police said.

A Milwaukie police officer who was checking on the complaint at Ardenwald Elementary School ended up in a car chase after she attempted to talk to people in a parked car near S.E. 36th and S.E. Barba St.

The car took off and ended up in a dead end near the east side of the school. When the officer moved to pin the car in, the driver turned and rammed the front of the patrol car twice, police said.

The driver took off again and ended up on another dead-end street, this time near S.E. 79th and S.E. Luther. Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies had come in to help by this time, and the driver hit one of their cars, deputies said.

Police finally used a PIT maneuver to end the chase near S.E. 84th and S.E. Beibe.

Police said the 17-year-old driver had minor injuries, and that two more minors in the car were released to their guardians.
