UO Police: Student sexually assaulted at Autzen stadium
EUGENE, Ore. -- A University of Oregon student reported that she was sexually assaulted near Autzen Stadium just before last week's football game.
The University of Oregon's Police Department said that the incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. on October 6th just west of Autzen Stadium, the night of the home game against Washington.
It's the second report of a sexual assault at a UO football game this season. In September, a high school student reported she was assaulted by a stranger in the Autzen parking lot on the day of the Arizona game.
UO Police released a Campus Crime Alert (below) to students on Saturday night.
The University of Oregon Police Department has received a report from a UO student that on Saturday, October 6 at about 7:30 p.m., she was assaulted and forcibly fondled in the west parking area at Autzen Stadium. No description of the suspect was available.
With the onset of fall, and then the change back to standard time on November 4, it's getting dark earlier. Certain perpetrators use decreased visibility with the darkness, as well as the anonymity of crowds at events, to target or offend others. Some perpetrators become bolder or more aggressive when intoxicated, and they may frequent events with a lot of drinking.
University police officials ask that anyone with information about this or other incidents to call either:
- Eugene Police -- (541) 682-5111
- UOPD -- (541) 346-2919
These incidents are always disturbing. There are many things the school should be looking at, security and lighting being the highest priorities. I hope they can catch the person responsible.
Wonder if they're going to look into if it's legitimate or not ??

is akin contemplating if this was legitamate ?
Simple solution is to just stop the football program. Or at least the drinking at the tailgate parties
Women @ college of all people should press for their right to conceal carry a firearm on college campuses.
@Unknown I have seen it demonstrated (at an OSU safety event) that an attacker can surprise and close on a woman from over 20 yards away before she has time to react and deploy a personal defense weapon unless she's already on combat values of alertness. My girlfriend trained guard dogs that women could borrow to take jogging, and when the handlers turned them loose on a mock attacker... that was supernatural. If a stranger approached and the dog didn't like him, it would stand between them and just smile at the guy. But if you tried to attack her... Yikes. I was profoundly disturbing to see the dog go to work on the demonstrator. (Unfortunately I'm allergic to dogs.)
The police need to figure out who is doing this, if it is related. Then set up a sting to capture the individual. The stinger needs to have a nice fully charged personal tazer or stun gun. Then let the assaulting individual have it a few times in various places. It just might teach them that what they are doing is not a good idea. People that feel they have to assault women are cowards it seems. They are lucky so far.
@Just Lookin If they figure out who is doing it, why do they need to set up a sting? They could just arrest them if they figured out who was doing it.
More light everywhere. And volunteers to keep watch. No reason for this to be happening.
Hey, Phil Knight! How about beefing up security?
If darkness is the issue, why are all the UO games played at night? Just to satisfy ESPN? Except for Monday NIGHT football, games should be played in the daytime. Â
@jpk All of the Duck games are at night because of the new Pac12 network deal...not ESPN. Get a clue before you pop off!
