Unidentified body found floating off Oregon Coast

CHARLESTON, Ore. - The death of a man found floating in a bay on the Oregon Coast is being investigated as suspicious, the Coos County Sheriff's Office said.
The U.S. Coast Guard brought the body ashore Wednesday during the noon hour after a passing fishing boat spotted the man floating in Charleston Bay.
The sheriff's office said the man has not yet been identified. An autopsy is pending.
The body appeared to have been in the water for at least a couple days, the sheriff's office said.
The man is white, about 50 to 60 years old, with a stoma in his throat. He is 5-foot-11, about 180 pounds with a full gray and white beard and dark brown collar-length hair.
The sheriff's office released a photograph of the tattoo on the man's shoulder, which depicts a skull on a skull.
Any person with information as to a possible identification of the subject is asked to contact the Coos County Sheriff's Office on their business line at 541-396-7830.
Charleston Bay ???? Ah coos bay...charleston "harbor"........surprised this printed with coos county involved !!!
Wake up, Katu. Take this postmortem picture down. The man has been identified as Michael Edwards McInroe from Portland. He'd just been arrested in Portland, so why was the public's help needed to identify him when he was so easily identifiable?
Not so long ago tattoos were only common among criminals and sailors; now everybody has one. That said, this is not your upper middle class, college coed, got drunk one night ankle butterfly tattoo. This tattoo represents something to this lost soul and it's not a happy tattoo.
If you go the www.theworldlink.com there is an article and they identified him as a Portland man.

 @jhca Gotta love the KATU follow through on a story!
 Would it really be so much work to photograph the tattoo and then convert it into a graphic instead of showing us the actual GUY? You know...like they used to do? Has everyone gotten so lazy that we throw decency out the window? We wouldn't need to see his flesh to be able to identify this tattoo. It's grizzly.
 @Philip Marlowe It doesn't bother me, personally, because I don't know him. However, if he was my loved one, I'd be mortified to see him displayed this way. For the sake of his family, I think it's unsettling.
Super sad! Someone must recognize these two identifying features. =(
For the sake of this man's friends and family, I hope the authorities can identify him and figure out what happened.
Crab bait.
 @dkgiovenco An extremely insensitive comment.
Now, here's some reporting for you; "....The death of a man found floating in a bay on the Oregon Coast is being investigated as suspicious...". Â No disrespect to the man or his family, but when would a body floating in the bay on the Oregon Coast NOT be suspicious...?? Â Sure, if a guy washes overboard or something, perhaps not suspicious, but in any other case...???
looks like a prison tat
 @LostSoulÂ
Exactly. I am surprised that they don't have prints on this guy.
Very sad....

@Solipsist01 Yeah he does. The frigid water probably helped with that though. Notice the red blotchiness...lots of cold soaking :(
 @fracas  @Solipsist01Â
He was also on long term prednisone looking at the skin texture and from the stoma I would guess he has end stage emphysema from being a heavy smoker.
 @Kristen Peterson McCormick  @fracas  @Solipsist01Â
If that were from the sun it would be more even from my experience and not have the area of white. Prednisone causes the "rash" as they call it with thinning of the skin.
Â
His prison tat also says he lived a hard life and that prisoners have smoking rates that is 3 times the general population increases the odds that he had COPD.
Â
I would put long term prednisone use at about 80% probability.
 @RalphCramden  @Kristen Peterson McCormick  @fracas  @Solipsist01 The blotchiness on the shoulders looks like sun damage to me. A guy who spent a lot of time outside with his shirt off... The aging of his skin seems about par for 50-60, depending on ethnicity and lifestyle. Hope they identify him and give the family some closure.Â
 @Kristen Peterson McCormick  @fracas  @Solipsist01Â
Prednisone skin looks thin like paper and tears easily, blotchy, excessive hair where it usually doesn't grow, premature aging of the skin and easy to bruise.
Â
Prednisone is a common drug for those with emphysema.
Â
You could be right about the throat or neck cancer. Often times it goes with decades of heavy smoking.
 @RalphCramden  @fracas  @Solipsist01 What makes you say prednisone and emphysema, Ralph? Not arguing, just curious. I'm guessing throat or neck cancer with the stoma.
"with a stoma in his throat"Â That's a hole in the throat, in case anyone else didn't know. Learn something new every day.
