Vancouver man, 73, gets 23 years for killing wife
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - A 73-year-old Vancouver man has been sentenced to more than 23 years in prison for fatally shooting his wife of more than two decades over a financial dispute related to their pending divorce.
The Columbian reports that the sentence given Victor Frye was the maximum under state sentencing guidelines.
Deputy Prosecutor Dan Gasperino said the man shot his 67-year-old wife Nita six times last Nov. 12 after he found her handwritten notes indicating she had plans for their money that differed from what they previously had agreed upon.
Superior Court Judge Daniel Stahnke told the defendant he'd listened to an audio recording of Frye's confession, in which the man described how his wife repeatedly pleaded for her life.
The judge told Frye "it's a terrible thing you did to Nita, to her family and to your family."
Frye pleaded guilty Jan. 22 to a reduced charge of second-degree murder.

What a pig.
And you wonder why she wanted OUT...20 years with that thing only for him to check her out because HE decided to. Â I hope he rots there.
Frye him!
Well, he no longer has to worry about any retirement income. For however much longer he'll live, he'll have all his costly needs taken care of courtesy of the taxpayers. Hopefully this is not the way of the future penniless retirees and homeless? Sure hope not!
Turns out he didn't need the extra cash...he has a free roof over his head, three hots and a cot, television, movies, classes, library etc. Â for the rest of his years
@volunteer and don't forget the free healthcare too.
23 years, huh? Â Ouch, that slap on the hand must hurt. Â And, you know he's going to get early parole. Â At least he has someone to watch over him, when he's older, when he's in jail...that's important, now that he's killed his wife and he's all alone. Â Have fun in prison, buddy!
I would say that is a life sentence.
Good! Don't cut him any slack just cuz he's older. He is a horrible person listening to her plead for her life while he shoots her.
