Suspect in string of Vancouver burglaries arrested

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Police on Wednesday arrested a man who they believe is responsible for a string of burglaries in several Vancouver neighborhoods.

Officers responded to a reported burglary in progress in the 3400 block of Columbia St. early Wednesday morning. Detectives later spotted a man matching the suspect’s description running away from the area, according to police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

Officers tracked the suspect with the help of a police dog. The suspect was found hiding in a yard and arrested. He had stolen property on him, Kapp said.

Kapp said the man is the suspect in a series of early-morning burglaries in several neighborhoods in Vancouver’s west side.

Police planned to interview the suspect and release his name after he's taken to the Clark County Jail.
