VANCOUVER, Wash. – A floor collapsed inside a Vancouver warehouse building Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.
The incident happened at Vancouver Warehouse and Distribution Company, located at 1101 W. 11th St., just before 2 p.m.
Vancouver fire spokesman Kevin Griffee said crews were unloading 400,000 pounds of lead bars onto several palettes when the weight broke through the floor and the bars crashed into the basement, landing on top of 1,000 gallons of rubbing alcohol.
No one was hurt.
Officials are monitoring the air quality. They say it is safe so far.
Firefighters said engineers needed to check the building to make sure it was safe for them to enter. They don't yet know how long they'll remain at the scene.
A hazardous materials crew is waiting to begin cleaning up the rubbing alcohol.
