Victim fund reaches $266,600 one month after mall shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Clackamas Town Center Victims' Fund has received $266,600 in donations one month after the deadly shooting, including a single anonymous donation of $250,000.
The Clackamas County Peace Officers Benevolent Foundation is managing the fund, which was created on Dec. 12. 100 percent of donations go to the three families physically impacted by the shooting.
Steve Forsyth and Cindy Yuille were shot dead before the shooter killed himself. 15-year-old Kristina Shevchenko was shot in the chest and survived her injuries.
The donations ranged from $4 to $250,000. A total of 146 donations have been received, according to CCPOBF President Mark Koberstein.
The donor who gave $250,000 wanted to remain anonymous, and requested that each family receive $80,000. They also requested the remaining $10,000 go to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and be used for continued training with the retail community, Koberstein said.
The foundation continues to accept donations, which can be made at any Clackamas Federal Credit Union branch.
Donations can also be made by mailing a check to:
CCPOBF
PO Box 426
Oregon City, OR
97045
Donors are asked to write “CTC victim fund” in the memo line.
Headlines grabbed my attention but got disappointed that a single donor gave 250k. Many kudos to that donor and the 145 others but really? Only 146 donors out of the thousands that actually care and shop there. *face palm*
Very nice and thoughtful !! No money can take back what happened, but the 3 impacted families are probably in need of some financial assistance .. be it medical bills, lost wages., funeral expenses.Â

Thank you donors !!
A very generous donation.Hopefully it will help the families through a difficult time.

However, I doubt that the shopping center would be doing a thing if it weren't in the best interest of their bottom line. Corporations aren't necessarily known for their compassion beyond self-interest or the benefit of their executives.
@Mikey You are a bit wrong. I myself have participated in many drills of different scenarios involving fire crews, law enforcement, mall security, and civilians to prepare for the worst. Reason why you never knew this? Because the mall gets closed down to the public for these events.
