PORTLAND, Ore. – A water main break in S.W. Portland closed Ainsworth Elementary on Thursday morning.
The pipe shut down S.W. Vista between Elm St. and Spring St.
Lindsay Wochnick of the Portland Water Bureau said the break happened just after midnight. Officials aren’t sure how long the repair will take.
The break happened near the school.
Homes in the area were having water-pressure problems. No flooding damage has yet been reported.
The 8-inch cast-iron main ruptured, causing water to pour into the street. It was installed in 1927.
