PORTLAND, Ore. -- A water main broke Sunday morning in Southeast Portland, causing an unknown number of customers to be without of water.
The water main break was reported at 3:30 a.m. at Southeast Powell Boulevard and Southeast 20th Avenue, spilling water all over the roadway.
Crews responded to shut down the water from the 20-inch cast iron pipe.
Portland water officials say it was unknown how many customers were without water. Because of the size and location of the pipe, some customers may see discolored water and are encouraged to run their water until it clears.
It's unknown how long it will take to repair the water main.
The freezing temperatures were among the factors that caused the water main break.
The Portland Bureau of Transportation said S.E. Lafayette and 22nd Ave. was closed Monday morning due to the break.
