Woman, 22, dies when car goes into river
TILLAMOOK, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a 22-year-old Tillamook County woman on her way home from her boyfriend's house has died after her car went into the Nestucca River.
The sheriff's office says divers found the car upside down in the river 25 to 30 feet from the bank.
She was identified as Corinne Edmiston of Tierra Del Mar along the coast.
Sgt. Mike Zimmerman said she was reported missing after drove home Sunday morning from Hebo, along the Nestucca.
Zimmerman said investigators believe that wet pavement and speed were involved in the accident.
Corinne was the kindest young lady you could possibly imagine. She loved children and animals and they loved her in an intense way. She was close to her mom, loved her boyfriend and would do anything for anyone. She knew what was important in life in a way that most people don't figure out until a much older age. She never met a stranger. The world is a little dimmer without her smile.
The road between Hebo and Pacific City is a dangerous drive even when sober
Only 22... So young! Â RIP Corinne. Â :(
I know the area well, as I grew up there. Resort Drive, where the accident took place, isn't made for unsafe driving. It's narrow, bumpy, and if you make the wrong move along nearly most of the length of the road, you're right in the river. Add rain to it, and even driving the speed limit is unsafe.Â
Â
The story says that speed was probably a factor. Sadly, on that road, 40 MPH is unsafe when it's rain-soaked.

@HarryJuku - She was living a sober lifestyle - so I'm sure drinking was not a factor. She was running late for work so if she was speeding that was probably the reason.

@HarryJuku - YOU are the idiot. Corinne was my sister, she was just a kid and LOVED her job and was trying to get there on time. Accidents happen, unfortunately, and your inconsiderate, uneducated remarks have no place on here. Get a life and stop adding more pain to those who are mourning her right now. I can see that you are just a worthless, hateful waste of life, so do us all a favor and don't speak of things you know nothing about.Â
That is a nasty area out the. The first rain in the fall I was driving out there and 101 was full of oil, just like ice. RIP
There have been at least several cars in the past few years that have gone into the nestucca along this stretch of road. It's very narrow and is right up against the river bank in many spots with VERY few guardrails. Add in the heavy rain sunday and this happens...Probably in the same general area where the others went in, too bad the county doesn't have the funds to put up barriers along the most hazardous spots !
@sargerator If not barriers at least reflective strips and a reduced speed limit. A lot of times people will also "Over Drive" there head lamps What I mean by this is they will drive to fast thinking that there head lamps gives them enough brightness at night to drive the regular speed limit. I was taught when at night reduce your speed at least 5 mph, and then depending on conditions reduce speed again.. But then that was a while ago when I was in the Job Corp at Timber lake..A very long time ago.. But its good practice. and I had many an officer following me when I drove at reduced speed at night and never got a ticket..Maybe either
(A) think I am doing the right thing Or (B) maybe think that my hunk of junk is on its last legs and they take pity on me ?
There is a stretch of road in my area that has a "Reverse banked turn" I wonder is this the same type of turn.
How sad. My deepest condolences to this young lady's loved ones. Way too young.
