Suspect sought after woman is attacked in violent home invasion

PORTLAND, Ore. - A woman was attacked in her home Tuesday afternoon and police are now trying to track down the suspect.
The crime happened around 1:30 p.m. at a residence near the Beavercreek Post Office.
A woman called 9-1-1 and said she had been hit on the head by a man who broke into her home and that she needed medical help.
The victim, who is in her 40s, was taken to a local hospital to get checked out. In the meantime, deputies, including a K9, searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him.
The woman told police that she did not know the man and that he attacked her for no apparent reason. She said she struggled with the man until he fled on foot out her front door. Nothing was stolen from the home.
Because of the nature of the attack, investigators are considering the crime an attempted rape.
Suspect Description
- White male
- 40 to 50 years old
- 6 feet tall
- Weighs between 160 and 185 pounds
- Has light brown and gray hair with a mustache and beard

DON_KEYSHOW Â "Home invasion robberies are on the rise, in conjunction with unemployment and cost of living. Some individuals out there see "defenseless" folks as an easy cash withdrawl. This will continue until either A) The economy improves, or B) More folks react with lethal force as a first response." How to improve the economy? 1 coin for a days work no matter what it is you do... so long as you do your job. And if not prepare for an exodus, a 666 revolution and basically all the evil people will be in a pile and all the good people will be in a pile.
I wonder where her hand gun is? Â Maybe if she used it we wouldn't spend thousands trying to find her attacker.
@Common Sence "Trying to find her attacker" is why our tax dollars provide us with law enforcement. That is a right given all American citizens, of whom gun ownership is NOT required. Classic "blame the victim" mentality. I'm sure she must have been wearing a skirt too, right?
@BG1980  @Common Sence As a gun owner I'm going to agree with you.
Get this guy before he tries this somewhere else. If you don't keep your doors locked you are in denial of the evil in this world. You will notice she called the police. Good job lady struggling with the vermin. She was her own first responder and the police came just to take the report. The description fits most of the homeless losers hanging around Porkland looking to get something for nothing.
@The Resistance A sign of the times to come when skel's do what they want without fear - an unarmed Liberal is a for sure target and they keep flocking to the PDX Area=more targets...
If the attacker is on drugs, he will have to be physically stopped by crippling him or killing him because his drug infused brain doesn't recognize pain.  You can karate slap him til you are blue in the face and it will do little if any good, other than making him angrier.

Either way, what we have coming out of DC is NOT indicative of this situation improving. In fact, it'll get worse if career politicians to the left of the aisle have their way. Legal gun ownership will spiral downwards, crime will go up, and good people will suffer. Sooner or later it will reach a boiling point and there will be no questions asked, simply shots fired. After which, the State can come clean up the mess while law-abiding citizens go back to their underpaid, overworked 9-5s.
@Don_Keyshow While he sounds a little zealous..he has a point about "home invasions" rising as gun control increases. Do a google search on the trends in England. You'll find that most home invasions there either take place with homeowners in the building or involve someone getting hurt. Not so in the USA at the moment...my assumption is that anyone considering a breakin has to seriously consider meeting an armed homeowner.
@Don_Keyshow They're calling it an attempted rape. Never heard a rapist blame the economy for their crimes, but maybe you'd make a creative defense attorney.
@badcat I'd probably NEED a creative attorney if some bum came through my door looking to rob me.
I guess my point should be a little clearer: People need to start taking a zero-tolerance position on crime. If you're found here tonight, you'll be found here tomorrow.
Heading says "Portland, Or," but in the body of the article it says at a residence near the Beaver Creek post office. ???
This is what a 12 gauge shot gun loaded with 000 shot is for
Â
So...he "broke in"...busted down the door? Break a window? How did he do this? Do you know how many people still keep their doors unlocked? There's some nice houses in this area and it's kind of remote...so I'm thinking she might have had the door unlocked? Either way....very strange.
@fracas I am thinking that the new reporter  did not get the basic facts of the story before "going to press" (who what when where how why)
@fracas 1:30 in the afternoon you should not have to lock your door.
@iamtroglodite@yahoo.com  @fracas NOT IF YOU HAVE A GUN
@iamtroglodite@yahoo.com  @fracas It depends on where you live or even what you might be up to and who you might not be expecting!
@fracas I always keep my doors locked when home alone....
Gun, dog, or not, when confronted FIGHT! Would-be victims are always better off fighting than submitting.Â
@alohan No, not 100% of the time. Use your head and use your instincts to SURVIVE. Survival does not always come by fighting, and I know of several rape survivors who are alive  to talk about it because they did not fight. Otherwise, they would have been murdered.  Fight if you can, and don't feel bad if you did not and could not  because due to the varying individual circumstances NOT fighting was what  kept YOU....  ALIVE. Sometimes wits are more important that fighting when it comes to survival.
@alohan Yep told my girls from a very early age if someone tries to kidnap you fight back and fight dirty with eye gouge, bite, grab certain body parts, what ever it takes and scream as loud as you can while doing it.
Â
Even if they have a weapon or make threats you fight back because once they get you isolated all the fighting and screaming won't help and they likely will harm you either way so better to do it when people are around to help.
I own three big dogs, two of which are Rottweilers. A gun would have been the least of this guy's problems at our house.
@al_02 I have  big parrots and a dog. Talk about dangerous...

@whirledworld Friends of mine have a macaw. I am far more afraid of that thing, and his beak, that I am of any dog.
@al_02 As well you should be. Think of an attacking macaw like an intelligent chainsaw with wings... and claws to grab on to you with.Â
If guns are banned this type of crime will skyrocket. In England after they confiscated firearms, violent crime shot up as criminals know their victims will be defenseless.
 @Nathan James stats, sources?
@Nathan James The same holds true for Austrailia.
Â
@Nathan James  I don't own a gun but I am NOT defenseless.Â
@Amy So you are telling me you could hold your own with a 6' plus 200 lb plus male?
Â
I seriously doubt it... as a 165lb male who is stronger then average and very fit I have tried to take on bigger aggressors for fun in wrestling and Karate and you are at a huge disadvantage.
Â
Even with special training in fighting your still going to need to rely on something like a taser, pepper spray, or a knife to have much of a chance.
Â
One good punch landed by him on your head and your would be out of the fight...
 @FreedomRocks Â
One of the best defenses is prevention. I won't blame the victim but there is a lot the story doesn't tell us such as: did she open the door to a stranger, did he get in by an open window or door, etc.
Â
I keep my doors and windows locked at all times and there are rods in the tracks and devices on my windows that prevent them from being removed intact. There is no way someone could get in my house without me hearing them because they would have to break wood or glass forcefully. I also have an escape route in every area of my house and I will use it before I would confront anyone. I also have my cell phone in my pocket at all times so I can call for help while I'm running away. I don't feel defenseless or scared.
@theprodigal  @FreedomRocks  Ya size is not the only factor but makes a big difference.
Â
I learned size and strength can be overcome in wrestling by a friend who was state champ in his weight class. I was 30 lbs heavier and much stronger. After he pinned my ass the 17th time in under 30 seconds I conceded technique does matter:)
Â
However in that case we were not trying to hurt or disable each other. If so my punches would have had a lot more effect then his.
@FreedomRocks @Amy FreedomRocks, I have taken three different styles of Karate but am small (just under 5'2", between 120 lbs. and 125 lbs.). Given my 'druthers, I would rather be able to just run away or shoot the assailant rather than get into hand-to-hand combat.
That is good. None the less; fewer guns, more violent crime.
Thank god she didn't have a gun, and harm this poor fellow.
I think she did a damn good job..! Â Â I hope she recovers soon, and I also hope they get her attacker very soon..!
I have a feeling that it's more of an interrupted robbery than a rape.
I hope they find the dirtbag and that the woman recovers fully.Â
