Woman comes home, finds two burglars inside
TIGARD, Ore. - A woman surprised a couple of burglars when she came home.
The incident happened around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 8500 block of Southwest Colony Creek Court in Tigard.
According to police, the woman said she entered her home and heard a noise coming from the back. Then two men appeared from one of the rooms. One of the men had a handgun and made demands.
The woman was able to flee and call police. She was not hurt.
Police combed the area but were unable to find the two men.
The woman described the suspects as black males between 18 and 25 years old. One was around 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build and was wearing a dark-colored, zip-up sweatshirt with a hood. The other was considerably shorter and was wearing a white pullover sweatshirt with a stripe and a hood.
Anyone with information is asked to call Tigard police at (503) 718-COPS (2677) or send a tip by email.

@Welfair Chick Wow -- therein lies our major difference.  I've no desire whatsoever to hear what he has to say.  He's a Fishbait wannabe.

@Welfair Chick in hoodies.
Darnit. I was hoping the next line in the story would be;
'...and the woman was an Oregon CWP holder who was armed, and well practiced at her craft. One intruder was killed, and the other surrendered.'
@MarkKpic Really I was hoping it would be she peed her pants and vomited all over so they would not rape her like the anti gun left is telling women they should do instead of having access to a gun if they wanted it...
The response on this really upsets me...while the 10 police cars lights flashing were in my neighborhood with police dogs looking for the suspect...I couldn't get much or good information about whether my family and neighbors were safe from the non-emergency police line...I even called KATU tip line trying to get information...The police just said they were looking for a suspect...this area isn't real far from the "very very violent homicide" on Dolph Court saturday so I was afraid it was that suspect...I even called and talked to a seargent later that night and was told they weren't sure what happened or if anything happened and they had a suspect in custody...now I read they didn't arrest anyone?

Whatever...you can't even spell...so I am not very concerned with your opinion about ANYTHING...if being concerned for my family's well being makes me a wimp...I am proud to be a wimp and wish there were more "wimps" out there like me rather than people on welfare, and wife beaters, and drug addicts, etc...
That's funny...Kerry, a Democrat presidential nominee, volunteered for war, but the last Rebuplican president good 'ol "W", spent his younger years drinkin, cokin, screwin and tryin to get out of going...that was before he bankrupted the country as president....
@Jack Smith There are plenty of "wimps" out there. They are called Democrats.
Did you try calling your family directly?
yes, I talked to my family, but was not really able to put their fears to rest other than to tell them to keep the doors locked, don't answer the door for anyone but police, and to keep their cell ready, etc...it is kind of unsettling for people to know there are police all over the neighborhood searching for someone and not know what the suspects supposedly did or whether the immediate neighborhood was in danger...But, I also think of all the people who did not know anything was going on? Seems like they could have used the emergency texting of phonees like they do for water problems?
I should note, I was quite amazed at the high level of response...I saw several unmarked cars with police lights flashing, about 7 police cars with lights flashing...in all at least 10 police vehicles and police dogs...that is part of the reason I was so alarmed...I have never seen more than 1 or 2 police cars respond to anything in this neighborhood...maybe it is because we have elementary, middle and high schools, city hall and library all within 1 mile from the address...to be fair I think this part of the police response was more than I would have hoped for and expected given the tight budgets of today...
Great now burglers are using guns !@#$
@Great now what! They do all the time in places where you are banned from owning a gun like the UK. Burglers in the UK are also 5x as likely to break into a home filled with people because they know they won't be armed and shoot them.

@NotAChance Exactly everyone who claims you don't need a gun for safety because you'll never use it and it will be more likely to be used to hurt you or someone else hopes in their car and puts their seatbelt on even though the odds of getting an accident and needing the seatbelt are 1 million...
I wear a seatbelt and carry my gun on every trip never expecting that I'll use either one but doing both because of the simplicity and the possible dire consequences if I did actually need it and did not have or use it.
@Sundowner @TheUglyTruth @Dr. Rawdog Well, that's you. I guess you've never had the pleasure of living in less then desirable areas.
I buckle up when I get into my car, not because I'm "sooo fearful", but because it's the wise and informed choice.
@TheUglyTruth @Dr. Rawdog So if this woman's story is true, you believe she would have been "a calm, trained person" under the circumstances?  Highly unlikely.  I guess if someone is soooo fearful of everything, they can walk around their own home with their gun in hand......I'm gonna pass.
@Dr. Rawdog @TheUglyTruth What ever keeps you alive is the best option and having multiple ways to stay alive is better then only one...
Now had she had little kids with her running may not have been an option...
@Dr. Rawdog @TheUglyTruth @FreedomRocks Perhaps, but many cannot afford to purchase a security system, nor the associated costs involved.
And why is it impossible for you to extrapolate past "what if running, or your security system doesn't work"? Why can't you take it to the next question? You attempt to leave it right there, like "that's" the answer.Â
@Dr. Rawdog@FreedomRocks@TheUglyTruthIt does not for me either but for those who like this lady that have had a bad experience it's tough to shake.
My new next-door neighbor just moved in and spent thousands of dollars on a burglar alarm and video cameras set up. She is the most paranoid person I've met in a very long time.
Come to find out she was burglarized in her previous home. Did not get the details if she was home or not but it certainly had a huge effect on her mental psyche.
So yes we are all unique because we all have unique experiences that help shape us and making judgments about others just because you've never shared their experiences is rather self-centered...
@Dr. Rawdog@FreedomRocks@TheUglyTruthForgot to mention coming home and being scared is the reality we live in what our government is not doing their job and locking up criminals...so it's better to be prepared for anything and everything.

@Dr. Rawdog@FreedomRocks@TheUglyTruthCertainly if you can afford a high-quality security system that's always a great option. Safety is not a one-stop shopping spree at the gun store. It starts with attitude and awareness followed by preparation as appropriate.
Being safe involves doing everything right and having as many options as possible and a weapon could be one of those for some people. For some people a weapon would not be a good choice because they would not be willing to put in the time and effort to become proficient using it. Those people would be better off going with something like pepper spray were training is not a big factor.
This comes down to being a very individual choice and one that I think everyone should have the ability to make for themselves as long as they're mentally stable and responsible.
Isn't it so nice that the media is concerned about this lady that they have to post the hundred block and street name.Â
What's wrong with that?
@Oregon7812Â Right, so the armed neighbors can get ready for when THEIR house gets burglarized, and can do what she was unable to do....Blast the crap out of them, and ask questions later. I would want to know! Â Seems logical, and no harm meant.
Scary! Thank goodness this woman was not hurt. This could've turned out so much worse and with terrible consequences. Although it's unlikely, I hope someone knows of something that can help law enforcement capture these cowards. This poor woman will not feel safe and secure for some time. What a violation of her life. I hate thieves; they are only one step higher than a pedophile.
