Woman dies in crash near Sheridan
SHERIDAN, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon State Police says a motorist died at the scene of a crash on Highway 18B near Sheridan.
According to Sgt. Brad Hessel, 23-year-old Candice M. Diaz of Sheridan was driving a Ford Explorer early Saturday when she overcorrected after failing to properly negotiate a left curve.
The vehicle rolled after veering across the highway and into a ditch. Police said Diaz was partially ejected. She was not wearing a seat belt.
Nobody else was in the vehicle.
The highway was closed for about 3 hours during the investigation.
So sad! My heartfelt condolences go out to her family. We are praying that her love and kindness will be remembered.
well it sucks in this day and age that the young can be still so stupid !! so much pain because of one small thing ! wear the SEAT BELT !
23 years old. In a safe vehicle - a SUV for Pete's sake. And she does not secure her seat belt.Â
Â
Unfathomable and sad - fatal error on her part. 23 years old - too young to die. Regrettable decision.Â
"She was not wearing a seat belt."
Â
I guess it's too late for her to learn this lesson. But others may benefit from her sacrifice.
Â
WEAR SEATBELTS. THEY WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE.
Â
More than likely she would have survived this had she had been wearing her seatbelt. So sad really. I simple little device. Putting it on and she would be here today. Maybe with some bumps and bruises. But at least she would be here.
Seat belt is the first thing I do when I get in the car.Â
I usually shut the door, first.
Amazing what a click of the seat belt can do for you....sad to see...my condolences to the family....
