CAMAS, Wash. - A 42-year-old woman who was found dead in the Little Washougal River Monday morning has been identified, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

Police say Sheri Ann Mills accidentally drowned in the river and lived at a home just a few blocks from where she was found near 238 S.E. Blair Road in Camas.

Clark County sheriff's deputies originally reported that a man had drowned, but later said the victim was an adult woman.

Somebody called the fire department around 11 a.m. and heavy rescue equipment was dispatched to the scene. Firefighters managed to recover Mills’ body about 90 minutes later.

The victim was spotted by a woman whose home backs up to the river.
