GRESHAM, Ore. - A woman was rushed to the hospital late Thursday night after she ran into a convenience store with stab wounds.
The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. Thursday in the area of 182nd and Stark.
It is not clear exactly where the stabbing happened but the victim ran into a Plaid Pantry store looking for help. Police say she had been stabbed by an unknown man who then ran away. It is unknown at this point whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and was conscious when she was loaded into an ambulance.
Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to call the Gresham Police Department at (503) 618-2365.
People can choose to say "it's Rockwood" all they want, and leave the status quo. Â Truth is, people should damn well expect someone to give a care and step up to make some changes. Â Those who want to just make remarks about being in "Rockwood" don't understand that if measures aren't taken. Â "Things" don't just STAY in Rockwood. Â Perhaps you should consider if your neighborhood was portrayed this way. (and in time, it could because crime does indeed spread).... I hope you'd be asking what will be done as well. Â
Â
The majority of people in Rockwood are good people and don't deserve to be condemned by reputation of a few. Â Time to end petty remarks of condemnation and instead ask "what is going to be done to change this?" Â Shouldn't we all feel safe to walk our streets and perhaps it takes citizens, government and all to stop shrugging their shoulders and fix it. Â
Â
For the most part Rockwood has many fine qualities but simply condemning a neighborhood as a waste is no solution and wasted comment space that leads to nothing....
182nd and Stark is right dab smack in the heart of Rockwood. One may actually be safer hanging out in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
The average weight of a woman in Gresham is 275 pounds.
Time for Knife Control Legislation. On another note, nothing good happens after 9pm anyway...
 @Billy Batts Uh huh, there are good tv shows on after 9
HEY MAYOR BEMIS...... THIS IS TWO MORE STABBINGS SINCE THE MURDER TWO WEEKS AGO ON WITHIN ONE MILE OF EACH OTHER......TIME TO STEP UP THE FORCE!
Â
WEST GRESHAM is WALKING ON EGGSHELLS HERE!!!!! Or don't you remember THIS is a part of YOUR TOWN TOO!!!!! Â
Â
WE HAD ENOUGH WITH YOU IGNORING THE ISSUES HERE!!!!!!!
 @katufanman Your caps lock is stuck.

I think he is intending to yell. He is not a happy camper and I don't blame him.
 @RalphCramden  @katufanman Ya I prefer cities that use Apple.
 @katufanmanÂ
Politics has always been a rich mans game and for those who are well connected.
One issue is that the city council memebers and Bemis continue to run unopposed.  Most of these members have special interest with their own agenda. And they are unpaid positions. 5 of the 6 council members along with Bemis live within a stones throw of each other......so representation in West Gresham is virtually non existent/ignored. Â
Â
I'd run myself for City Council if it could replace my current salary. But I have children to raise and I have a home to pay for. It's a catch 22.
 @katufanmanÂ
Fred Meyers left because they couldn't handle the shop lifting loses. Other companies have left for other reasons but it really has gone downhill.
Â
Unfortunately it will not get better anytime soon. Gresham is a PC city and until the citizens vote in leadership with some balls it will not change.
Thanks Ralph, yes we are mad. Bemis and Adams both need to figure this out. I resent the name Rockwood because it has become a dumping ground for people of circumstance.
Â
What is wrong with these people and the stabbings out here lately.. Wonderful Rockwood area...
