Women to leave anonymous love letters around Wash. city
PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — Three Port Angeles women plan to leave anonymous love letters around the city to give strangers an emotional boost.
The three are life coaches who collaborate through a website called Thriving on the Olympic Peninsula.
The Peninsula Daily News reports they're carrying on the "We Need More Love Letters" project that began in New York.
Letters of affirmation, saying things like "You are beautiful" and "You deserve love" are left on store shelves, in bus shelters or under doormats.
The recipient doesn't know who sent the letter, which has no agenda except to spread love.
The women are holding a letter writing party Wednesday at the Port Angeles Library.
We like to call them "tease".
Â
Have you see some of these wretches around? Â They don't deserve love, they deserve some motivation and get off their butts and get cleaned up.
Life coaches.. Are you kidding me ?
@dougprdx What's the problem, dougprdx? I happen to be high up in the local Life Coaches union(IBLC, Local 26), and, so that you'll know, we don't take too kindly to troublemakers like you badmouthing our livelihood. We can, let's just say, make things 'uncomfortable' for you. We've been known to tell people like you that you are a failure and that you'll never amount to anything. You don't want that to happen, huh? Now, do ya, punk?
If a man did this he would be arrested for harrasment. I'm tired of women getting a "pass" for every obnoxious behavior. This is why I'm divorced and will stay so.
@PeterAWolf Awwwww. someone has some hurt feelings left over from love-gone-wrong and love letters just pi** him off still? Did it  occur to you some  lonely widowed elderly people might love to get a sweet note like this? Or a depressed suicidal  teen?  Lighten up. Write one to yourself.
@whirledworld Like Jodi Arias if ex-my wife had access to a firearm she would have shot me in the brain as I slept. She was, and is, exhibiting severe mental health issues and is probably still dangerous. But she always refused any treatment even any counseling. Just consider that for a moment.
They're just exercising their First Amendment rights!
I would like to suggest to these women that they make certain that their efforts do not discriminate against any member of society. Letters in Spanish, Farsi, and Braille need to be included to assure that non-English speakers get the lift these women intend. Also, for our illiterate friends, they need to include letters consisting of internationally recognized symbols.
 @S_O_P_A It would be cute.
I think they are gonna create more stalkers!! Any weirdo that has a crush may think it's, a love letter from the crush. Do we really want that? I know I don't!!!
@KSparks Oh my goodness. Your imagination.. while big, active and fertile and all, has unfortunately  hijacked you to "that's-ridiculous-land".
I think that these women are watching way too much TV!
I thought they had jobs. What does a life coach do anyway, or is the refuge of those with expensive sociology degrees that can't locate a real job?
@jpk You sound cynical. Maybe you need to drive to Port Angeles and see if you can find a letter. I'm sure it would cheer you up and while you are on your way there, try to ignore the fact that an anagram for 'life coaches' is 'leech fiasco'.
Nope, the only red letter I ever got was "F" on one school grade report card. LOL
@jpk did you earn the Scarlet Letter? This sounds scandalous...
@jpk I would tell you that I have a reading disability that causes me to see everything as anagrams, but the reality is this:

With the present price of gas, I'll not drive to Port Angeles, but thanks. The only letter I would never ever want to find is Nathaniel Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter. Wow! How much time did it take to come up with that anagram?
I suppose if the note indicates the intent it won't cause too much trouble. I don't know. I like the idea of lifting other people's spirits, but I think a more direct and perhaps hands on approach might better serve their time.Â
Â
I don't mean to sound negative, but I can't help but think if a person who is really down on themselves and feeling lonely reads a note like this, knowing the person who wrote it really has never seen them and it says, "you are beautiful" yet, the reader feels they are in fact not beautiful, the intent will be lost because the reader will reason that the writer  does not know them personally so therefore cannot state whether they are beautiful or not.
Â
I get the inner beauty that they are meaning, but I just don't see this getting where they are intending. Â
and what about the ones who will commit Suicide after reading them?Â
@32jim2 oh nonsense.  Go eat some chocolates and watch some Jackie Chan. You sound depressed.
Isn't that littering?
"Letters of affirmation, saying things like "You are beautiful" and "You deserve love" are left on store shelves, in bus shelters or under doormats." Â Â (from the story)
Â
Hmmm... well, if I found something like this on a grocery store shelf or a bus-stop shelter ~ somewhere public ~ I probably wouldn't think anything of it... Â I'd probably think it was just kids messing around... Â But left on a doorstep at someone's home..? Â VERY bad idea, IMHO... that could lead to some pretty bad domestic issues if there's a married couple or a boyfriend/girlfriend couple living there... and if there's a single resident there, especially a woman, it could be downright frightening (think: possible stalker)..! Â Â
Â
Not saying their intentions are bad, but they really need to be careful...
Maybe someone should explain that "anonymous" and talking to the media about it aren't the same thing.
Well, the letters aren't really anonymous anymore, are they? Â Thanks for spoiling the surprise, KATU. Â Sheesh.
If a man did this they would probably arrest him for stalking.
@Pointblank Doesn't stalking require a particular focus person?
 @starshadow Not for a confused un-selective stalker.
Life Coach = Losers who could not figure out getting a job.
Â
As soon as you said Life Coach I knew this was dumb.
We put men on the moon in 1969 and this is where we end up....WTW !
@sargerator Normally we are on very opposite sides buy I could not hold that against you on this one!!!
affirmation...?....affirmation....? Now where have I heard that before.....what non-sense goofballs !

"Last week's show was not my best, but that's... OKAY. I have to give myself permission to fail!
"life coaches" That's all I need to read right there.
Yep that's how I want to start and finish my day. Filled with false hopes and promises frome strange people with to much time on their hands. Oh now I feel all squishy inside. I'll stick to the lie in my fortune cookie
@Pvpbw My cookies always tell ME the truth!!
"Life Coaches" are for people who need someone to tell them how to live or what to do, or need a cheerleader to fluff their ego. Most of us got past that stage by about age 14. This idea is more about marketing than giving people an emotional boost. What kind of person would get an emotional boost from an anonymous love letter from someone they don't know? Talk about disingenuous!!Â

 @TheUglyTruthÂ
Do you really live in a world populated by that many scary shadows?
This story is more of a Public Service Announcement because "No, seriously, sweetheart, it's from a COMPLETE STRANGER" is probably going to end in some sort of domestic violence somewhere.
@Playanekes Yep it would be an uphill battle explaining that one to most spouses I am sure....Kinda like a started where girls panties and thats why I keep a spare pair in the glove box:)
LOL for sure!
