Former youth basketball coach arrested on sex abuse charges
STAYTON, Ore. - Detectives with the Linn County Sheriff's Office arrested a Stayton man who used to coach in a youth basketball program and charged him with multiple counts of sex abuse.
Undersheriff Bruce Riley said Dennis Holm, 46, was arrested Monday in Stayton, which is located southeast of Salem.
Holm was a volunteer basketball coach in the Cascade Youth Basketball Program in Turner, Oregon, when Riley said he met the victim seven years ago. The victim is now 18 years old.
Riley said the relationship between Holm and the girl turned sexual when she was 16 and went on for two years.
Riley told KATU News that Holm has not been coaching "for some time."
Holm was charged with three counts of Sex Abuse II. He is due in court on Oct. 24.
He looks like hes as smart as a box of rocks.
I have my doubts about these cases. Â I think people are rushed to justice and society has taken on a witch hunt mentality. Â I'm not defending child molesters., but think about this: if these people were accused of any other kind of crime the judge would throw the case out due to lack of evidence. Â But if the crime is sexual in nature somehow the burden of proof on the prosecution is lowered to the point of mere hearsay. Â
Just in case you guys are wondering, NO - none of the women would like to have him as our teacher to teach us a few things, unlike the other posters who posted something to that effect on the "Former NFL cheerleader pleads guilty in sex case" link.Â

 @pdxd Why is it that the media and the public will go to extremes to differentiate between a  simple assault and a so called 'hate crime' simply because the victim is of another race, but they are blind and seemingly indifferent to the sex of the victim when it comes to this kind of crime? I have no stomach for these types of abuses. A person in any position of authority has the responsibility to be a role model and to provide a safe environment. To me, it's irrelevant as to whether it's a man or woman. A person who preys on a child and has an improper relationship with that child should be subject to the most severe punishments available.Â

If your a young beautiful woman you can have sex with a child (not that I think of a 17 year old boy a child)Â and just have to say sorry. if your an over 40 women that might be on the heavy side you go to jail for a while and everyone calls you a sick old cow. If your a man, you go to jail no questions asked.Â
