Nestle recalls Nesquik due to possible salmonella risk

GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) - Nestle USA is recalling some of its Nesquik chocolate powder due to a possible risk of salmonella exposure.
The food maker said Thursday that it is recalling Nesquik sold in its 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7-ounce canisters across the country in early October. The affected products have an expiration date of October 2014.
Nestle says it is issuing the recall after its ingredient supplier decided to recall some of the calcium carbonate used in the product due to possible Salmonella contamination. The company says there are no reported illnesses associated with the product.
Salmonella can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever. It can be life-threatening in infants, the elderly, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems.

I think the USDA should ban all products that could contain e. coli or salmonella or prosecute with the same vigor as they do for raw milk producers.
@sebastian cervantes LOL! That's pretty much everything.

I bought a package of Nestlé Quik, the plain stuff with sugar. Made some hot chocolate with it and it had an odd taste. Turns out that besides using sugar in the mix, they throw in that Sucralose (Splenda) crap, too. I'm wondering WHY would anyone in their right mind put that garbage in when it already has sugar?
And where is a list of product numbers or information on what action to take if one has the possibly contaminated product?AGAIN shabby 'reporting'.
@AmiM "The affected products have an expiration date of October 2014", as for what action to take, I guess you could keep dumping it in your milk and drinking it. If you're into that kind of thing.
