PORTLAND, Ore. - Oregon Health & Science University is developing a vaccine for West Nile virus that could be available in clinics in three years.

The National Institutes of Health is giving researchers more than $7 million to get a West Nile vaccine ready as soon as possible.

The virus is spread by mosquitoes.  Many people get infected and show no symptoms but it can be deadly for elderly people or those with lowered immune systems.
