BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Police swarmed a Bank of America branch Wednesday over a mistaken robbery.
An employee at an adjacent business brought a BB gun to work, setting off the frenzy when someone thought he was robbing the bank.
A real estate agent with Watson|Touchstone ERA in the Marketplace on Ming Avenue brought the gun to work as a gift to a client, according to the Watson|Touchstone ERA general manager.
Someone apparently spotted the gun, thought it was real and thought the man was going to rob the Bank of America branch next door.
Both businesses were evacuated, and the commotion briefly shut down traffic on area streets.
