In pictures: Wildfire burns homes in California

TEHACHAPI, Calif. -- An estimated 30 to 40 homes were destroyed and an evacuation was undertaken for a wildfire that broke out Tuesday afternoon in the Old West Ranch community south of Tehachapi.

The "West Fire" is threatening about 150 additional homes near Blackburn Canyon Road. The fire has grown to hundreds of acres, and the governor declared a state of emergency.
