Russian woman attacked by wolf, axes it to death

MAKHACHKALA, Russia (AP) - Beware of 56-year-old Russian women with axes.
A lone wolf attacked Aishat Maksudova outside her sister's home in Russia's province of Dagestan in the North Caucasus Mountains.
The animal bit the farmer on her arm and her leg and she fell to the ground, crying out for help from other villagers. No one was in earshot. So she reached for an ax she had brought along to repair a fence, and with remarkable aplomb, she hit the wolf over the head several times until his teeth unclenched.
The wolf later died.
Maksudova has become a hero in the Caspian Sea province that lies east of Chechnya. She was still being treated for her wounds Tuesday at a local hospital after last week's incident. Doctors said she is recuperating well.

I personally know a few Russian older women who now live in the USA.....they have gone through alot during their years under some of the brutalest dictators....they are hard core as it gets, and to all those remaining wolves out there , and want to think these women are easy pickings....guess again ...bad choice!
Don't p-i-s-s ol granny whipswitch off. She is one tough old broad! After all the political crap for months, the moronic stories of drunks and druggies wrecking cars, pedophiles and all the rest of the depressing news, this is, well, um... different! Good job granny!
If looks could kill, we'd all be dead!
She looks like Death's Mom
Axe? Hah! Just biting her killed the wolf!
Those old Russian women are TOUGH! LOL!
Â
Glad she's OK.
Â
Â
I guess she forgot to lock the gate? Her grandson Peter must have been off playing and couldn't help her. Hope the Duck escaped this time. Good job, Granny. =)
My kind of woman!!!
I guess the Wolf never read Little Red Riding Hood. He should have known better.
After killing the wolf she quartered it up and put some in the pot for dinner. Then she went in to get medical attention and walked 15 miles in knee deep snow in -30ºF temperatures to get to the local hospital.
Â
In the US she would have called 911 and waited for the police to show up. Legislators would be passing laws making it illegal to kill a wolf who is attacking someone. Police would have charged her for carrying a weapon. PETA would be at her house protesting her actions. She would have been sued by the government for violating the Endangered Species Act.
Â
And some idiot politician would have written a law prohibiting wolves from attacking humans cause we all know that laws solve everything.
Â
 @RalphCramden Well said Ralph! You hit the nail on the head! Poor woman would have been persecuted and prosecuted..
 @Khre'Riov Ael i-Mhiessan t'Rllaillieu  @RalphCramden Sad, but true. I'm an advocate for wolves, but hey, if you get attacked by one, take it out. Same with a human or any other plant or animal that might try to do you harm.
 @iamtroglodite Thats what Apple Bitter is for,lol!   Direct spray to the mouth and spray your hands and anything you don't want chewed up. Do that a time or two and then just show them the bottle if they go to do something you don't want. Done this with 6 dogs now and it works. Just don't get any in your mouth! Very nasty...
 @RalphCramden   Its the full grown ones that get nasty..   Husband grew up on a farm and has been bit. I took care of some for a gal while she was gone once! Pretty onery. I do think the pot bellied pigs are nice. I have a friend who got a couple.Â
 @Khre'Riov Ael i-Mhiessan t'Rllaillieu  @MikeyÂ
Piglets are really cute. You would change your mind of you played with one.
I love all animals, but if someone or something bites you, it is open season! Heck, thats how I got my mutt to quit biting, when he was 11 months it was getting old getting new marks on my arm. He bit me while we were playing, so I grabbed his head and bit down on his ear as hard as I could. I felt kinda bad because I bit through it and he yelped pretty loud. He knows better now!
 @Mikey    @RalphCramden I like Wolves too and other critters, pretty much all short of pigs - never liked them. But I'm a realist and know there has to be balance. When a wild animal like a wolf or coyote turns to hunting humans its no different then a dog hunting chickens, once they do that, they have to be put down because they will do it again. I also hunt and fish and abide by the laws.Â
 @Mikey  @Khre'Riov Ael i-Mhiessan t'RllaillieuÂ
I am an advocate for all animals and yet I am a hunter.
Â
Just about anytime I see wildlife I want to shoot it, with my camera. During hunting season I will shoot it with my gun, legally.
Good thing that didnt happen here, she would have been tasered and arested for animal cruelty.
She axed him to stop biting?
@WTFWTF Was her name really Lizzie Borden?
Â
@WTFWTF Axed'em nicely...
 @Billy Batts  @WTFWTF Around Portland, dey axe ya wit a gun.
