Boy calls 911 after dad, grandma overdose on heroin
NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. (AP) - Police have charged a man and his mother with endangering a 10-year-old boy who called 911 when they passed out at home while allegedly using heroin.
The Beaver County Times reports police found both adults unresponsive when they arrived Friday evening.
Online court records don't list attorneys for 34-year-old Chad Kiser and 52-year-old Ginger Ray Foust of New Brighton. The boy is Kiser's son and Foust's grandson.
Kiser and Foust were charged with possessing drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of the boy, who told police that his grandmother went into the bathroom to help his father after he passed out. The boy told police each adult was trying to help the other battle a drug addiction.
The boy has been placed in county welfare custody.

That is a very sad statement coming from a 10-year-old. Obviously the adults don't want to be drug users anymore and need help getting the upper hand on their addictions. Must be terrifying for the kid. I hope the adults get the help they need so they can be loving, supportive family members for this poor boy.Â
Ok, so the AP (and KATU) just picked this up but it's about a week old? Â This happened on Friday (assuming that Friday even was March 8th. Â That doesn't really make it news (especially without a follow up -- did both adults recover, die, still in the hospital...).
Bummer. Both of the so called adults lived. So sad.
Oh yes, because it's not bad enough for a kid to witness an overdose, we should also have him witness a fatal overdose
@pdxdÂ
And a better "realistic" option would be...?
@feral @pdxdÂ
That is more likely what will happen.
WIth parents and grandparents like his there is little option for him.

Yup, check the pulse, still beating? Watch ESPN for an hour and check again. Dead? Now call 911.I hope he learned his lesson.
I hope and pray there is someone in this boy's life that will take him, love him, nurture him and provide him with a safe environment to grow up in. No child should have to experience what he has in the first 10 years of his life. This happens too often. My thoughts and prayers are with this boy.
Poor kid, he deserves better, and it sounds like he'll be getting a better life.
Looks like they are not winning the Battle or the War on Addiction.
@swede760Â Oh, you mean "Just Say No" isn't working? Â Don't let Nancy know.
