Cops: Mass. bargain hunter took home TV, left tot
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Police say a Massachusetts man left his girlfriend's 2-year-old son in a car while he went shopping for Black Friday bargains, then went home with his new 51-inch flat screen television and left the toddler behind.
Police, alerted by store security, found the boy asleep in the vehicle in a Kmart parking lot at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.
They forced their way into the car and took the boy to the hospital as a precaution.
Meanwhile, they tracked the man to his Springfield home.
He told police he lost the boy while shopping, panicked and called someone else for a ride. The boy's mother was working.
The 34-year-old man was not arrested and not immediately charged, but police say they expect to charge him with reckless endangerment to a child.

OMG what a LAME excuse for a person This is...LOST the toddler while shopping  and calls for another ride?  Um did you mean he lost the CAR?  Or did he think he'd lost the boy?  'cause either way I think that 51 inch tv should cost him his girlfriend.  This article doesn't say he lost the boy, panicked, called for a ride and CALLED THE POLICE now does it...which would have been the responsible thing to do. Â
that's completely unforgivable. I'm sorry, I lost your kid, so I ran away. Â Unbelievable.
whats the tot to tv exchange rate anyways?
Sometimes the best punishment is to give the perpetrator just what they want. So, if found guilty, the "gentleman" ought to be banished to an island surrounded by nothing but material possessions without any means of escape and absolutely no human contact.
Kids are a pain in the ass.
Possessions before family, Now that Sucks, at least I Had Tot and forgot the groceries Once.
Bling before people. Just more evidence of the decline of civilized society.
Ooops... Â Wonder how long toddler's mommy will still be his girlfriend after this little faux pas...! Â Â Glad the little boy is OK...
@margay1  I hate to say it but I suspect that the mother will keep him around. Its amazing how some women find the biggest losers and hang on to them tightly.
@scared_citizen ~  Yeah... sadly, you're probably right...  sigh...
