Frail teenager found chained in parents' basement
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities found a frail 17-year-old boy handcuffed to a pole in his parents' Kansas City basement, where he said he'd been kept since his father withdrew him from school in September.
Police said Wednesday that they were still investigating and hadn't turned over any of their findings to prosecutors for consideration of possible charges. Police have not released the names of anyone involved in the case. The teen was placed in the custody of child services.
According to a police report, an officer and social worker who were acting on a phoned-in tip visited the family's home on Monday. When they entered the basement, they heard someone cry out, "I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything."
"I then observed a thin frail looking male getting out of the fetal position on the concrete floor around a steel support pole," Officer Jonathan Stone wrote in the report. The teen was handcuffed to the pole and looked very thin for his height, with a sunken face and eyes that "had a look of desperation."
After police freed the shivering boy from the handcuffs and helped him calm down, he said he had been kept in the basement since September, when his father removed him from school. He said he was initially "just locked in the basement, but was not fed much."
He told police that in October, he managed to get out of the basement and get food, which angered his father, who tried handcuffing both his hands to a bed frame in a "cross position, but his arms were not long enough."
The teen said he managed to take apart the bed in November and used a bed rail to break open the door, but he didn't manage find food. He told police that this time his father removed the bed from the basement and handcuffed him to the pole.
He told police that his father would wake him each day at 4 a.m. to use the bathroom and give him a packet of dried oatmeal. In the afternoon, he would again be allowed to use the bathroom and would get a packet of noodles to eat. Later, he would get two bologna sandwiches and a glass of water before being locked up for the night.
Another adult in the home told police that the teen was "locked downstairs because in December they let him upstairs and he ate almost an entire bowl of fruit at one time."
The case comes several months after Kansas City police found a 32-pound girl barricaded inside a closet that reeked of urine. That child's mother is scheduled for trial in June on assault, child abuse and child endangerment charges. The mother's 35-year-old boyfriend pleaded guilty in October to endangering the child and was sentenced to five years' probation.

Hey, maybe we should take them and cuff them to a pole, see how they like it
Is there a new cult loose in KC?
Unimagineable horror.
Waiting for more details on this case. like... where is he now? Is he under medical/psychological care?

He ate fruit? THE SCOUNDREL! If I had a dime for every parent I've heard complain that their kids won't eat healthy snacks I'd make Tony Stark look like a pauper. I certainly hope the other so-called "adult in the home" is charged as an accessory.
Jesus wept.
@Mikey Jesus should have kicked down their door and taken this kid out of there. Jesus should have taken these a holes out alon with all the others who do this to children. Why does Jesus let these things happen to begin with
For every one of these stories we read, there are, horiffically, several more that are ongoing even as you read this story or comments, and kids or vulnerable adults who will never be helped or discovered unless found. Please bother to wonder about your neighbors/friends/church members/etc/ family members if you see one has seemingly become: "gone/out-of-town/busy/etc/etc. Your interest could save a life.
How could you do this to another person, let alone your own child? I just don't understand ...
The kid was lucky he wasn't put on "The Rack" to make his arms longer for the "cross position". I just don't understand how people can be so cruel and inhuman to others?
Looks like the parents got THEIR hands cuffed in a cross behind their backs !!!!!!!!!!!
so heart wrenching... I hope he gets the help he is going to need to heal from this awful crime committed against him. Â
Just glad they got him out. Hope he's ok. People should have to pass some sort of sanity exam before breeding.
time the father get a taste of his own medicine
Not that there are any statistics to back this up; but it seems like we hear more and more about people doing this type of thing to their kids. What on earth are these people thinking?
Â
(notice how I didn't say "parents"?)
@Owt_Raged I wonder if they're receiving financial assistance; waiting until he turns 18 before sending him on a bus to L.A.
I think this guy sounds like another great candidate for my (proposed) desert island... just drop him off from a low-flying plane - no parachute - if he survives, then he can fend for himself on the island... Â "Course, good luck with that, because that's where our other criminals will be - drug dealers, robbers, domestic/child abusers, sex predators, and so on...Â
Oh yeah, almost forgot... ANIMAL abusers will be on my (proposed) desert island, too..!
there is more info at http://www.kmbc.com/news/kansas-city/Teen-found-handcuffed-to-pole-in-basement-of-home/-/11664182/18431882/-/mi52u5z/-/index.html
Limited information here, however given the facts as presented I would think that the 17 yr old should be placed and the parent/s chained to the same pole until they are dead. No food no water, well they could drink urine until that ceases.
What can possess a human being to do these kind of things to another? Your own child at that. These people do not deserve children, pets or to walk around free in society. I would like to burn them at the stake.
@Pointblank That would be to kind...
What is this country coming to?
And yet another example...dad pulls him from school...(home school right?) and kid drops off the map. This boy hasn't been seen or heard from in 4 plus months?! Â Hope to see more on this one too.
@BCH mom Huh? Are you trying to slam home schooling? I know a lot of home schooled kids who are way better off then what they are getting from public schools other then the socialization aspects...
@FreedomRocks @BCH mom That was probably what Dad told the school when he pulled him out of the school he was attending.
I would like to break his parents out of jail, just so I could take them somewhere to chain them and deprive them of food for 5 months
@The_AnnaCannard I would like to bail them out...But I would force them into other means of torcher...have them be in a room filled with kids..there hands handcuffed.
@lee986321  @The_AnnaCannard ~  Nah... I wouldn't want any kids to be in close proximity to adults like this... (sorry; I just can't bring myself to call them "parents")...Â
@lee986321 "Clap clap clap", wow you must be trying for Christian parent of the year, oh wait.....Jesus said to turn the other cheek. So that's what I'll do to you.Â
Â
p.s. you may want to attempt to comprehend those scriptures you read, I think you could learn something, in fact that might be one of Jesus' miracles
@The_AnnaCannard The adults hands are cuffed, the kids hands are free...just t o make sure that there is no misunderstanding on who's 's hands should be bound
