Woman who glued daughter's hands to wall faces life term

DALLAS (AP) — A doctor has testified that a Texas mother who glued her 2-year-old daughter's hands to a wall also beat the toddler so badly that she suffered significant brain trauma and bleeding inside her skull.
Elizabeth Escalona pleaded guilty July 12 to injury to a child. The 23-year-old mother is being sentenced Monday. She faces up to life in prison. A state district judge will decide her punishment.
The doctor showed photos of the beaten child.
The toddler was in a coma for two days after the Sept. 7, 2011, incident. Police records show the toddler's siblings told investigators their mother repeatedly kicked the girl in the stomach and hit her with various objects before gluing her hands to the wall.
Police say Escalona was mad about potty training problems

She will have "Hell" to pay literally.
If eyes are the window to the soul then what do her eyes reveal? Cold, dead stare. I think it's all about her.

My heart is in pain when I hear of these gut twisting things that are done to our children in this world! How could anyone hurt a child like she did, her own child!!!!! God help me, but I do not understand this kind of hate someone would have for their two year old child. I pray this so called Mother is taken to a room and someone kicks her and beats her until she is in a coma for a while. Then put her in a tiny cell for a long, long time!! There is no excuse for anyone to hurt and almost kill a child!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I pray for these children that are in homes of HELL with insane parents!!!!!!
BANG....problem solved.

I don't expect this woman could be any better.
@tptpttp What?
Why don't we just shoot people like this and get it over with? I really don't feel like feeding this trash with my tax dollars.
Life in prison for her, yet Sandusky gets only a few years. Doesn't seem right.
@Jamie  Apparently you have poor reading comprehension. The story said:
Â
"The 23-year-old mother is being sentenced Monday. She faces up to life in prison."
Â
Sandusky was SENTENCED to 30-60 years and at his age of 67, should be a de-facto life sentence. This woman has NOT been sentenced yet.
@scared_citizen You'r right. 67+30=97 so he will die before even the lightest sentence. Which pretty much has nothing to do with this pos.
 @Jamie Doesn't seem right that she got life? Or doesn't seem right that Sandusky only got a few years? Regardless of what happened with Sandusky, what she got is right.
She just needs to eat some "Epicyte" corn to prevent future children.
If I was the judge, I would sentence her to have her fallopian tubes removed through her nose using a pair of tweezers.
 @Agent Sydney Bristow Right on sista
Ouch!! Yes, she certainly needs something. But with laws to protect her rights...it would never happen. She needs to sign a release, to not hold the justice system responsible for what may or may not happen to her behind bars.
@Agent Sydney Bristow And her ovaries removed through her ears.....
 @Agent Sydney Bristow I like your thought process, Agent Sydney!
What is really sad is that this woman has other kids. She needs to be locked up for a long time. When adults, especially parents do this, it makes you wonder. How was she treated? And does she feel this is acceptable behaviour? Time for her to be fixed just in case, then led away for a very long time behind bars
@Just Lookin - she falls way short of being referred to as a 'parent'.
DrivingMsPatty,
I realize that, I was using the term more than anything. She is an adult but not what most would term a "parent". She is old enough to know better, but she will probably have some excuse
While there is no excuse for ever abusing a child, one wonders if she endured the same treatment at the hands of her mother. I hope that poor little girl recovers and gets placed with a family who will love and care for her as she deserves to be cared for.
Gee, a neck tattoo? How could such an outstanding citizen be so cruel?
Â
/Sarcasm off
 @Agent Sydney Bristow That didn't take long to remove the photo...I'm sure the turtleneck will sway people's opinion...NOT!
Just the next in a seemingly endless line of examples that the ability to breed does not equal the ability to be a parent.Â
Â
Ms Escalona is 23. She has one 2 year old, and (read elsewhere) two other older children. I shudder to think of the treatment that they endured prior to this incident. This is definately one of the cases where I would not be able to perform the duties required of me if I were the Police officer sent to arrest her.... She'd never make it back to the intake, definately would try to escape along the way.
Â
The overwhelming sense of sadness and empathy I feel for the kids is extensive. My prayers are with them all.Â
Someday, Elizabeth may find herself bedridden, and incontinent, and when that day comes,it would be karmic if she at that point of her life, endured the same as what she inflicted on that innocent 2 year old.
Darn it KATU!!! "Woman who glued daughter's hands to wall faces life term" I wanted to read how in the world a person could get a life term for gluing someone's hands to a wall.
Â
Letâs try this for the headline story. âA Texas woman who admitted to beating her 2-year-old could get life termâ
Â
Steve Dunn, where in the hell is Steve Dunn!!
 @dkgiovenco he retired.
This woman should be sentenced to experience the same treatment she gave to her children for the length of her sentence.Â
I just do not understand. My son is 3 and we just got done with potty training. I know it can be frustrating but GOOD GOD LADY! I truly hope she does not get out EVER! Sick woman. I hope you feel like a real BIG SHOT, you really showed that 2 year old who is boss! WTH is up with gluing her hands to a wall?! What was that supposed to accomplish? SICK SICK SICK womanchild.
 @Om KittyÂ
Â
My kid is not quite 2 yet and the closest thing we got so far is him putting is potty in the right place. I would be happy if he were anywhere close at 2.
Â
How can you get ticked at a kid for potty training?
Â
Â
@Repoman That is my question. How the heck can she go all pulp fiction on a toddler for issues while potty training?!
This women needs to be put away, and never, ever see her kids again. I wonder what she had done to the other kids. I hope they are alright, and that the 2 year old will be alright. Her life will never be the same.
Good, now Elizabeth Escalona won't have to worry about potty training problems any longer.
