NJ Gov: NRA ad on Obama daughters 'reprehensible'

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says it is "reprehensible" for the National Rifle Association to run an ad bringing President Barack Obama's daughters into the gun-control debate.
The nationally prominent governor on Thursday criticized the ad, which accused the president of being a hypocrite for allowing his daughters to be protected by armed Secret Service agents but not embracing armed guards for schools.
Christie said children of public figures should be off-limits to political attacks.
The Republican governor also sided with the Democratic president when Obama came to New Jersey to tour storm damage in October. Christie's praise of the president six days before the election was sharply criticized by some GOP members, who accused Christie of helping to tip a close election to Obama.

Only 93 comment so far! Goes to show we don't give a flying fart what you care about. Hey Chris, when are you changing parties?
B' Ho has the right to not have the SS protection that he does. He also has the right to limit the use of Air Force One and the family "vacations". These are sensitive times and the country has a polorized population. He and Michelle could not act so darned opulent for awhile, if they chose. He has also redefined the use of the "Executive Order". We may as well rename that to "Wednesday".
So What and you Christie ( who in hell would name boy child that is reprehensible ). At any rate so what, he is a hypocrite every child not just his deserves this kind of protection. So screw him it is more likely some one would put a bullet in Obama, then on of his kids.
 @lee986321 Once again, you've proved your ignorance publicly. The governors first name is Chris, the last name is Christie.
 @pdxd  @lee986321 but what's really new? swissbank, is that you?
@diddy_bop @pdxd @lee986321 what?
Obama, being the hypocrite that he is, has body guards for his entire family with fully automatic firearms and at taxpayer's expense. Yet he would deny Americans even a semi automatic firearm to protect themselves if it were within his power. (which it is not)
Â
I admire and respect Oregon's local sheriff's resistance to Obama's unconstitutional intrusions upon the second amendment.
Â
Obama was elected to the office of President of the United States of America, not king for life! It is my belief that a majority of voters that voted for him didn't understand just what kind of a Traitor to America Obama is!

@diddy_bop "deprive all white male patriots of their high powered rifles" An Ar-15s isn't a highpowered rifle. just an FWI.
FYI*
Christie we already know you are a jerk. When Obama visited you, you had your nose so far up Obama's butt your words were coming out his mouth. Another Republicant who's really a Dunbcrat.
As a Republican (Conservative) I don't take a vow to agree with 100% of everything the Party/politicians do because people aren't perfect. Name calling for disagreeing w/ the Gov. is wrong folks. As Dems you shouldn't automatically assume everything your party/politicians does is correct/perfect either.Â
 @Mom4Freedom Ya not great for the NRA to do but no worse then what Obama did in his speech using the kids. Only the democrats though seem to expect that they can behave badly and its ok or justified but when the other side does it they come unglued. Hypocrisy is their strong point and why the party can do so well...
@FreedomRocks @Mom4Freedom --- As I recall he never said a peep when Palin's kids were being savaged. I think the names and addresses of the protection for the Obummer daughters and school guards should be released.
 @The Resistance  @FreedomRocks  @Mom4Freedom Ya that was pretty said what the media and entertainment so called comedy people did to her children and not a peep from anyone on the left....
Â
It is that total hypocrisy which keeps me from ever voting for a D...ether you stand for something and its always wrong know matter who does it or your a democrat and it is only wrong if there is an R by the name...
Obama doesn't provide security for his daughters. The Secret Service does - because it is required by law to do so:Â http://www.secretservice.gov/protection.shtml.Â
Â
The Bush twins had armed security, too.
 @Max Quinn It actually isn't required by law that the SS protect any presidents children. What you linked stated the SS is "authorized" to protect not made mandatory by law.
@Max Quinn --- not a big W fan, but he's looking pretty good right now.
 @Max Quinn It can't be restated enough that Owebama is a hypocrite because the school Owebama sends his daugthers to had armed guards even BEFORE his daughters even went there. For the record, George Bush's daugthers went to public school, not a fancy, elitist private one like Owebama sends his daugters to.
 @moej Not until high school. For elementary school, the twin when to a private school Texas. And doesn't really matter...
 @Max Quinn  @moej What?
 @Max Quinn  @moej Jeesh, Max -- there you go again, bringing facts into some perfectly-good rants. Â
 @Max Quinn Ah ya but his school has 9 armed guards that are not part of the SS they work for the school so they also have the SS their two. So not sure your claim holds water...
 @FreedomRocks You are wrong. The school has guards, but they are not armed: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2013/01/18/no-sidwell-friends-school-has-no-armed-guards/
It's refreshing to see a Republican pointing out the terribly misguided logic of the NRA.
@correct --- Obama brings his kids into the conversation all the time. His kids are not more valuable than ours. Christie... Take a hike!
 @correct Yes if only a Democrat would have stood up and said how terrible it was Obama using all the kids behind him in his big power grab speech this week...waiting.....waiting.......................waiting.................waiting..............complete silence................waiting.....................
Â
Damn hell has still not frozen over yet......
 @FreedomRocks From what I have read in the news, many of those were children who either wrote to the president asking for gun laws, or were impacted by the shooting. I doubt that his staff went out randomly selecting kids to sit up there behind him.
@pdxd @FreedomRocks Probably not but yout can be his staff jumped on the idea.
 @FreedomRocks  @correct Right. Like every politician ever since the invention of the camera, he had his picture taken with children.
Â
Being a reasonable person, I didn't freak out about this signing ceremony (despite the young'uns):Â http://avoiceforfreedom.wordpress.com/2009/09/05/wedontalk/hr1signing2/
 @Max Quinn  @FreedomRocks  @correct omg, he even used black kids...
The NRA ad is correct. obama is a hypocrite. Â It is good for his kids but not ours.
"I don't believe in armed guards in schools"
sends daughters to a school that has always used armed guards (even before his daughters went there).
Â
Just one of the many hypocritical statements of Obama. He's straight out of 1984, everybody is equal, but Obama thinks he is more equal than others.Â
Obama brought children into this debate buy running with a knee jerk reaction to a lunatic's horrible crime. Â He used the victims as political and emotional pawns, to justify his illegal, anti-constitutional agenda. Â Then he surrounds himself with children in front of the world media, while signing his orders. Â If these poor 6 and 7 year old victims, and their families, can be used to further his attempt at tyrannical control, then his children's special security is fair game. Â I'm not talking about the secret service protection, that comes with the job. Â I'm talking about the elitist school with 12 armed security guards that his girls attend. Â
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/01/17/10-things-conservatives-support-that-are-more-invasive-than-background-checks-for-gun-ownership/
Conservatives literally want to force women to have transvaginal ultrasounds to get an abortion, but think that's less invasive than getting a background check prior to purchasing a firearm. There's no logic behind their arguments.
 @noneofyourbizzness Yea there is. How many of the Republican lawmakers writing these laws have vaginas?
 @Max Quinn Well, since many of them don't have balls, I'm guessing many of them may have manginas.
The Governor was a star at the RNC! He was praised as one of the most popular Republican governors in the country....until he started agreeing with Obama on relief for his state and now this.It's so freakin awesome to watch all of you turn on your own.I love watching your party implode because of the nut jobs.I love that the Republican Party has a 30% favoribility in the polls. The NRA is pointing their fingers at Democrats, making "Liberal" a dirty word that ties knots in the stomachs of their most brainwashed members. They have completely forgotten Republican Presidents, Nixon, Regan, George HW and George W Bush either banned or wanted to ban assault rifles and supported background checks. Regan and Nixon even wanted to ban handguns and yet a Democratic President who merely wants to strengthen existing laws and prevent guns from falling into the hands of criminals and the mentally deranged is the Bad Guy" and Boy, oh Boy, their members know what to do about "Bad Guys", don't they? Luckily, 85% of us are sane and it's up to us to stand against this nonsense and let our elected officials know they have nothing to fear from the NRA's threats to thwart their reelection. The NRA has a big old bag of manufactured fear. We have the votes and support of the majority of Americans.You right wingers forgot.It's not President McCain,it's not President Romney.It's President Obama.The American people decided this.Wake the hell up!
@noneofyourbizzness Bravo!! Well put noyb!! It's been three hours since you posted this..and I am shocked there hasn't been a response from one or more of the righties on here. We know it's coming though.
Give the man a donut.
@I812Â Â Â """""Give the man a donut."""""""
Â
I think it'd take more than a donut to get his attention...... at least a half dozen.
time for a good laugh.....

there was nothing wrong in pointing out that obummer has armed guards for himself and his family ..but not wanting to let us every day citizens do the same.. not to mention he has set it up so he gets armed security even when he is no longer dictator of our america. he is unconstitutional and anti american. i can not believe so many sheeple buy his crap and let him insult us.... it is sad.
@LordBear Name calling always enhances one's credibility now, doesn't it?
 @LordBear HE set it up to have security after he's out of office?  It's the law....originally all ex-presidents had protection for life, but after the law was changed in 1997, beginning with GWBush, said protection will cease after a 10-year period.  Where did you read "he has set it up...."?  You're not making stuff up, are you?
 @Sundowner  @LordBear Ya and 9 of the armed guards at his school work for the school and are not SS so he is still a hypocrite....
@Sundowner @LordBear You never told me Obama changed it again in 2012.
 @TreeWizard OK.
@Sundowner "but after the law was changed in 1997, beginning with GWBush, said protection will cease after a 10-year period" you said that correct? Now if you would have done research, like you said I should. You would have seen, that under Obama, presidents get life protection again.
 @TreeWizard Do you see where my very first comment to LordBear was asking where he got that information?  I'd never heard it, still haven't found verification.  To break that down for you, I didn't tell you because I still don't know.
@Sundowner @LordBear So Clinton thought he should have SS protection for life?
@Sundowner So post it. mmmkay thanks.
 @TreeWizard You'd already be reading it if you hadn't spent the time telling me to do your research for you.  I already did mine.
@Sundowner @LordBear you mentioned it you can post a link.
 @TreeWizard  @LordBear Feel free to research the law and see how/why the change took place.  Type in "Secret Service" in your Google bar and hit "enter".
