NKorea says SKorea, U.S. are within its missile range
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea says South Korea, Japan, Guam and the U.S. mainland are within range of its missiles.
An unidentified spokesman at the North's powerful National Defense Commission issued the statement Tuesday in response to South Korea's recent announcement that the U.S. agreed to let it have longer-range missiles capable of hitting all of North Korea.
It's unusual for North Korea to say its missiles are capable of striking the U.S., but the country has regularly issued harsh rhetoric against Seoul and Washington.
Seoul-based analyst Koh Yu-hwan says the North had no choice but to respond to South Korea's extended missile range but it won't likely launch a provocation.
The North Korean spokesman said South Korea's extended missile range shows the allies are plotting to "ignite a war" against the North.

Bwaaaaaah, ha, ha.... Kim Jong-uns latest round of PR-laiden sabre rattling for your consideration.Â
Â
Even IF (and, omg, that's a BIG if) the N Koreans could build a missile capable of reaching the US, the result of any such provocation would be swift, severe and overwhelming. Kim Un either knows this, or is incomprehensibly ignorant of reality. Reminds me of the overcompensating guy in the bar who wants to fight the linebacker every time he gets drunk because he doesn't get enough attention otherwise. Â
Â
I suppose that a bunch of military-clad guys with wrist rockets could probably hit S Korea with some ordanance...
Â
Back to your cardboard palace and empire, Kim. We're dealing with real threats right now. Â
Um, I think I know what the issue is here.
Â
See North Koreans aren't taught real well in school it seems because of malnutrition and everything, so that while the elite North Koran families send their children to the west for education, everyone else begins to see the rhetoric as truth.
Â
So someone drew a map see of the US just west of the Sea of  Japan. And then did a measurement. "Yep within range".
Â
Now we all now there is 5000 miles of an ocean there, but that does not stop the DPRK. I mean since when did fact top them from saying or doing AMNYTHING?
Â
So we all will have a big laugh and Kim "the Fancy Pants" will get angry because all his buds are watching us mock him and will fire his missile at, you guessed it, SOUTH KOREA.
Â
Because if he looked too hard our way, we would indeed make him the tip of the "Axis of Evil" and blow up all his toys from with Task Force 70 and the USS George Washington.
Â
@Repoman Thankfully, S Korea has been well armed by their allies. Last I checked, N Korea is still using 50's era soviet technology.Â
Â
At this point, I seriously doubt even China would get involved if Kim were to start something with S Korea.Â
Â
Frankly, I'm rather amazed that the N Korean government has been able to keep its people under control this long. Long overdue for an 'asian spring'.
NK is quiet all year but starts to sound scary right before an election.. just a bit predictable. I'm sure the teleprompter will instruct Obama to have strong words thus (supposedly) sounding strong on national security, and did I mention right before an election. North Korea couldn't even find the US on a map let alone send a missile our way. But the scariness sounds nice.
Haha! Really? They could TRY to fire one of their missiles at us, but it probably wouldn't even reach us.
Then it would be our turn to take a shot and ours wouldn't fail.
Now if your a libgressive you're more worried about global warming, excuse me it's now called climate change because sometimes it gets cold.Â
People who think put things in priority based on urgency and what they're actually able to do something about. The leadership in countries like North Korea and Iran possibly even Russia and China really would not be willing to wait for global warming (excuse me again climate change) to kill us off but would take action themselves. Making and keeping a second to none national defense would be a priority for those who think. The rest would be libgressives.Â
Â
@ORthinker I can't determine whether you identify as a liberal, or as a progressive, but I'm guessing that you've marched with the occupiers and did it with a very big smile! Need a blanket? hug? pacifier? LOL
I have lived in South Korea for 3 years now and the majority of people aren't scared. The North is always doing/saying crazy things. Don't let the media scare you into thinking North Korea is about to bomb everyone.
They could place a missile directly on their border with South Korea and still miss.
L'il Kim was always known for telling nothing but the truth. I'm sure Junior will adhere to his high standards of honesty and integrity.
Â
Yeah, they can bomb our mainland just like Sarah Palin can see Russia from her patio. Peh!
ruh-roh...Taepodong is now a Longdong
If they so much as tip a missal this way, turn the Whole damn thing into a nuclear desert.
@lee986321 A "missal", huh? Yeah, NK has plenty o' those. Aren't you special? Derp!
