Police: Girl may die if not returned to hospital
PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities in Arizona say a young girl with leukemia and a heart catheter could die if she is not brought back to a Phoenix hospital after her parents inexplicably removed her from the facility last week.
Phoenix police are asking anyone with information to come forward. Health privacy laws prevent them from releasing their names.
The 11-yearold girl authorities are only calling Emily had been receiving chemotherapy at Phoenix Children's Hospital for about a month.
Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos says an infection forced doctors to amputate her right arm and insert a heart catheter. The device was set to be taken out before her mother removed an IV from the girl and walked her out of the hospital Wednesday night.
Martos says the catheter could cause a deadly infection

She went in with cancer and left with cancer, one arm, and a drain for her heart.Â
Gotta love hospitals. I could understand the parents not wanting to wait to see if she loses anything else.
I wonder if maybe she was at the point of death anyways and she asked her parents to just take her home so she could be with them when she passed. Sadly in this case like a lot of cases parents no longer have the right to choose what is best for their child . Better to over medicate keep confined you know incase they infected her with anything else and have to cut off a leg or something. My prayers and thoughts go out to the child and the family.
Many of the infections that happen in hospitals are because people who come to visit refuse to wash their hands and touch EVERYTHING. Those germs are spread from one room to another, from one floor to another. The cleaning staff don't touch the beds, door handles or other places that should be cleaned. That's where many of the germs are.Â
Â
Wash your hands, people! Going into and out of the rooms at the hospitals you visit! Do your part!
I have heard of infections happening because the hospital hasn't taken proper sanitary procedures in cleaning and have heard of IV infections.

But that heart catheter. that is something one does not mess with.
I am wondering if the cancer was in such an area where they had to monitor heart.
My Fiance a Cancer Survivor has Optical Nerve as well as Nerves that control her ability to walk. , bone, and muscle damage from where they irradiated her . Si am thinking that her heart was cathed to make sure she had a healthy heart flow.

Sounds like the poor girl got an infection while in the hospital that cost her an arm. How tragic!! Hospitals are filthy and have no accountability for their terrible records. We need to demand more visibility on the outrageous number of deaths directly caused by hospital incompetence. No other industry would be allowed to get away with killing so many of their clients. No wonder her parents are outraged....
