Police say 9-year-old has given birth to baby girl
MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexican authorities say a 9-year-old girl has given birth in western Mexico and they are looking for the purported father, a 17-year-old.
Jalisco state police spokesman Lino Gonzalez says the baby girl was born last week at a hospital in the city of Guadalajara. He says the girl and her baby are doing well.
Gonzalez said Wednesday that the girl's family alerted authorities after she gave birth and the alleged father has not been seen since in the neighborhood they both live in.
He says that if the teenager's paternity is proven he could face child sex abuse charges.
Gonzalez says the girl told authorities the teenager was her boyfriend.

I'm repulsed enough with grown people having babies. Nine is too young.
This type of evil happens every where. My mother was a labor and delivery nurse at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma for twenty years. There was a 9 year old that was brought to the hospital who was in labor the young girl had a C section or she would have died. Every generation must be taught what is right and wrong and how evil acts can destroy lives and result in prison time.
How can a 9 year old have a boy friend that is 17 and have consensual sex? She's just playing with dollies right now. That's pure RAPE!Â

One more reason why abortion should remain legal. And become legal in Mexico. This was very dangerous for this girl on so many levels.

I don't know if it's the case here but I was reading somewhere that because of some of the chemicals like hormones in certain foods can cause young girs to sexually mature at a younger age.

Each country sets the age at which children are considered minors or adults. The laws in mexico vary by state, the lowest I have read is 12, the laws also vary if it is gay or straight sex.

Don't recall, suggest you review the laws in mexico as it relates to sexual relations. I reviewed them a few years ago when there was a matter at work with a new client.

@None If I knew her, was from or ever visited the where ever it is she lives in Mexico, maybe I'd be livid. I would probably be livid before the birth, but now it's done... sad. Yet also happy that mom and daughter are doing well. There, there goes that sad, I'll stop using that term... I'm happy!
This is so sad. My daughter is 9 and I cannot imagine, without throwing up in my mouth, her in this situation, let alone having the time to spend with the 17 yo! Where were her parents? So very sad.Â
