Same-sex marriage bill appears headed for passage in France

PARIS (AP) — France's lower house of parliament has approved a sweeping bill to legalize gay marriage and allow same-sex couples to adopt children.
President Francois Hollande's Socialists have pushed the measure through the National Assembly and put France on track to join about a dozen, mostly European nations that grant marriage and adoption rights to homosexuals.
The measure, approved in a 329-to-229 vote Tuesday, comes despite an array of demonstrations in recent weeks by opponents of the "marriage for all" bill. Polls show most French support legalizing gay marriage, though that backing softens when children come into play.
The Assembly has been debating the bill and voting on its individual articles in recent weeks. The overall bill now goes to the Senate, which is also controlled by the Socialists and their allies.
Locally, a group has formed to get same-sex marriage on the Oregon ballot in 2014. A constitutional ban on same-sex marriage was passed by Oregon voters in 2004.
But supporters say they are ready to try again after same-sex marriage measures passed in neighboring Washington and two other states during the 2012 election.

Vive la Liberté!
Maybe one day the whole world will see that all people need to be treated the same no matter their religious beliefs, skin color, gender, or sexual orientation. I know..I dream of Utopia but a person can dream. However, in this day and age of acceptance of others with different colored skin, women's rights, and different religions, how can we not accept people of a different sexual orientation? Did not God create us all in his image? So then are all of us not like God? Would that not make God straight and gay? I would be more afraid of God if I didn't believe all his children were equally loved.
Â
Even putting religious beliefs aside, all people should be allowed to be just like their fellow man and woman. If straight people can marry, why then can't gay people? What's the big deal?
Â
Marriage is NOT a religious ceremony unless you choose it to be. You don't need a religious license to get married. You DO need a legal marriage license from your state. It is a legal contract between two people to share their lives together. If you choose to have a religious marriage, fine. But you still have to get a state license before doing so. Marriage began, not as a religious contract, but a contract for a man to gain wealth by marrying a woman whose father had wealth. A dowry consisted of land, workers, and livestock. It had nothing to do with religion at first but money and power.
Â
Fact of the matter is this: Those who judge will be judged themselves in the end. I fear your judgment will be far worse than you think it will be.

@TheUglyTruth As long as you are clicking on the stories, they will keep putting them on here for you. Maybe if you weren't as interested they'd move on to something else.
Do you really think this will satisfy the homosexuals. No. They will simply move on to another topic. Why? Because they haven't even accepted themselves. If you are truly fine with who you are you could care less what society thinks, but they prove over and over again and are unsure of even themselves. First they wanted tolerance; fine, society tolerates. Then its acceptance; still not enough. Now they want downright promotion of their lifestyle everywhere they can (that will never be enough). It is a thirst they will never quench sadly. I have had homosexual friends before, I accept them as people, but i will never accept the type of sex they do in their bedrooms; but it is them forcing that issue on society to accept; we don't even want to hear about it. It is not enough to just be friends with them. If they know you don't approve of their type of sex, they attack you vicously with hateful slander.

"Because they haven't even accepted themselves."
Psst...the ones who haven't accepted themselves are still in the 'closet'.
Â
"If you are truly fine with who you are you could care less what society thinks..." (+1)
Then why do you care? Are they not a segment of society? Or are you not truly fine with YOURSELF?
Â
"Now they want downright promotion of their lifestyle everywhere they can..."
Again, if you are truly fine with who you are, why do you care what they think or do?Â
Â
"I have had homosexual friends before.."
Why aren't they your friends anymore...? Or are you just making that up?
Â
Â
@str1ngb3nd3r @Yukon Cornelius Simple, I moved and lost touch with them. Just like I have lost touch with hundreds of my heterosexual friends too.
Â
@Yukon Cornelius And just how would you know this ? I am well over 60 years of age, and I am very comfortable in my skin.. But let me tell you, it took years to be that way since most of society is ignorant on the subject.. Your little rant proves my point..
What you don't understand is gay couples are paying taxes on insurance plans for each other, we pay estate taxes that married couples don't and we are locked out of social security even though we pay in like you...  So, as I pay a couple thousand extra taxes a year, you call that agenda, so be it..
Call us immoral so be it, just keep your hands out of our wallets and let us keep our immoral money just like you !

@TheUglyTruth  @dougrpdx  @Yukon Cornelius Chick boobs not man boobs.
@TheUglyTruth I choose to be married to Kate Upton! Hmmm didn't work, maybe I need to be taller. Yes, taller, I choose to be taller! Taller! Nothing. Maybe I need to go back to staring at pictures of Kate Upton while choosing to be taller.
@TheUglyTruth  @Yukon Cornelius It was a choice for you ? you won't answer, and you call us ignorant.. .well golly gee...
@TheUglyTruth  @Yukon Cornelius I noticed one thing about your post.. You like to insult, but you never answered my question, when did you decide you were straight ? See, once you begin to look at things for real then you can see how it is for others.. But, I don't think you want that ...
@TheUglyTruth "Half say it's a choice" interesting, you almost make it seem like half of dougrpdx's "crowd" think it's a choice. Wait, you idid actually say that. I hate to break it to you, but they are virtually unanimous in saying that it is not a choice. So the "Until there is unity..." is now.
@TheUglyTruth  @Yukon Cornelius You see my point don't you ?
This is not a choice, it's what came natural to you.. It's what was natural to me.. Wired funny , sure I'll take it, but a choice, it's not..
Even the psychiatrists in the world now agree, it is not a choice.. Why would anyone choose to be hated, humiliated and held back just to make a bad decision.. No one would do that, it's what is natural to them...
@TheUglyTruth  @Yukon Cornelius I knew you would say chosen soon.. Read, learn and understand..  Education makes you free of ignorance..
This is not a chosen lifestyle.. if it is, when did you make the decision you were straight ?
@TheUglyTruth @dougrpdx LOL.....see what i mean UglyTruth......I don't even need to respond to a resonse that reinforces what you and i are talking about.

@TheUglyTruth  @Yukon Cornelius Wow, really ? First, do you even realize what an insult you hurl at gays with the word "lifestyle "... And one sided tolerance ?Â
And how would you know that ?
@TheUglyTruth  @Yukon Cornelius No sir, you are wrong.. I don't care what you accept... Don't give yourself that much credit ... You mean nothing to that gay community.. Our biggest problem is paying taxes we should not have too..
@TheUglyTruth true. true. Your comment is all i have ever experienced from the ones promoting homosexuality. I accept people; I just don't necessarily accept or approve of everything someone does. That is where they have a hard time differentiating.
