NEW YORK - Talk about giving your life to your job!
A New York woman said she donated a kidney to help her boss get a transplant sooner – and then the boss later fired her.
Debbie Stevens said she feels betrayed. Stevens worked at an auto mall and said her boss convinced her to donate a kidney to a stranger so she could move up the transplant list.
Stevens said she had complications during her recovery but was pressured to go back to work.
And once back on the job, Stevens said she was treated "horribly, viciously, inhumanly" after the surgery, according to her remarks in an interview with ABC News.
Stevens said she was fired after her attorney wrote a letter to her employer about the treatment she was receiving.
