GRESHAM, Ore. - Men and women in kilts exhibiting feats of strength, bagpipes, haggis and a whole lot of good old-fashioned Scottish heritage is on tap this weekend for the annual Portland Highland Games.

The one-day event - held on the third Saturday in July at the Mt. Hood Community College campus in Gresham - features top-ranked athletes, pipe bands, fiddlers, dance competitions, whisky tastings and much more. Buy a raffle ticket and you might even win a trip to Scotland!

The games draw a big crowd and they aren't just for show - these are real competitions where athletes vie for top honors in their discipline. Of course, the kilts, the cabers and the bagpipes make it a whole lot of fun to watch.

All are welcome at the Portland Highland Games (it's a family-friendly affair) and of course if you want to be a part of the spirit of the day, feel free to show up in your own kilt.
